First Look at Moana, Disney’s First Polynesian Princess

Say hello to Moana, Disney’s first Polynesian princess.

The animation studio unveiled a sneak peak into Moana, the South Pacific-based heroine of their new movie during last week’s D23 Expo.

Images presented during the Expo show Moana to have long, dark wavy hair, caramel-hues skin, expressive eyes, and an athletic physique, which is a far cry from the previous Disney princesses. Moana is now the second woman of color to be represented by Disney. This first was Tiana of the Princess and the Frog.

Check out how fierce she is in the photos below:

The official design for Disney’s new upcoming princess Moana has been revealed today at D23 expo!

According to Disney Wiki, Moana is a “spirited teenager” who sails the Pacific Ocean in an “ancestor’s quest.” Along her journey she will encounter a demigod named Maui, who is voiced by The Rock and an adorable pig named Pau.

Will this be the new frozen? Can’t wait to see!
