Michelle Obama Complains, Says She Is “not emotionally able…” To Deal With Life Under Trump Presidency

Former first lady Michelle Obama has been making the rounds promoting her new book, “Becoming,” during which time she has not held back her opinion of President Donald Trump.

Obama told late-night host Stephen Colbert that living under Trump was somewhat like living with a “divorced dad,” The Independent reported.

“For anyone who had any problems with Barack Obama, let’s just think about what we were troubled by – there were never any indictments,” she told Colbert in London promoting her book.

“We come from a broken family, we are a little unsettled,” Obama said. “Sometimes you spend the weekend with divorced dad. That feels like fun but then you get sick.

That is what America is going through. We are living with divorced dad.”

Additionally, Obama told her interviewer that she struggles to even watch the news, and can’t partake too much for the sake of her emotions.

“When I am not emotionally able to deal with it I turn it off for a moment,” she told Colbert. “I only let some of that stuff into my world when I’m ready. You can’t have a steady diet of fear and frustration coming in.”

Despite her frustration with the current administration, Obama said that her faith in America is strong and that she believes that the U.S. has overcome worse, and will do it again.

“We have always come out at the other end – better and stronger. We are moving in a direction of diversity and inclusion,” she said. “No one ever said it would be easy.

We are just in the throes of the uneasy path of change.”

The former first lady also bragged that her husband was favored for a third term by those who forgot that the nation’s first president who identified as black, was elected twice.

“That really did happen,” Obama said, referring to having to remind people that her husband was elected twice.

“People would have voted for him for a third time. What is going on today is true but what happened before was also true. That should give us some solace at some level.

For eight years, the president they saw in their country was Barack Obama. He was somebody who people thought was smart and would do the right thing.”
