Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling for the resignation of Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham after the South Carolina Republican advised that Donald Trump Jr. not testify after being subpoenaed by Congress.
“The Senate Intel Committee (which is GOP-controlled!) issued a legally binding subpoena, & Sen. @LindseyGrahamSC advised that individual to ignore it,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “If Lindsey Graham wants to work for Trump so badly, he can resign his seat and move his office down a few blocks to do so.”

The New York representative’s tweet came thanks to comments reported on by The Washington Post, where he advised the first son to “plead the Fifth” if forced to appear before Congress.
“You just show up and plead the Fifth and it’s over with,” Sen. Lindsey O. Graham told reporters Monday. The senator added that Trump Jr.’s lawyer would “have to be an idiot” to let him testify again.
“This whole thing is nuts,” Graham continued. “To me, it’s over.”
Texas Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Intelligence panel, agreed with Graham’s assessment and took Trump Jr.’s side.
“He’s already testified like nine hours. At some point, I think there’s other ways to address it,” Cornyn said Monday, suggesting that Trump Jr.’s team submit written answers so the panel can avoid being “even more intrusive than we’ve been.”
Ocasio-Cortez is just one of the irate Democrats who are calling for Graham to resign, however, and The Hill reported that #LindseyGrahamResign was trending on Twitter.

Chairman of the Democratic Coalition, Jon Cooper, also tweeted saying that, “#LindseyGrahamResign has been tweeted out over 300,000 times since @TheDemCoalition started to promote it this morning! Graham SHOULD resign. Him telling Don Jr to ignore a Senate subpoena is more than enough to warrant his resignation—everyone who retweets this agrees!”

Anti-Trump actor and political activist George Takei also called for Graham to be held to account for his actions:
“Senator Lindsay Graham has openly encouraged Don Jr. to show up but to plead the 5th and refuse to testify. Why is Graham helping to cover up Don Jr.’s lies and further obstruct the investigation? #LindseyGrahamResign.”
