Opinion| Lawrence David| Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared with Fox News’ Maria Bartirome this morning to discuss his plans for an anticipated Senate impeachment trial.

Those of us expecting the Senate trial to present an opportunity for President Trump’s lawyers to call witnesses who could testify to evidence of widespread government corruption under the Obama administration will be disappointed.
There won’t be a Senate trial. Ms. Bartiromo begins the segment by showing a clip of Sen. Graham from two weeks ago.
Sen. Graham: It’s impossible to bring this case forward, in my view fairly, without us knowing who the whistleblower is and having a chance to cross examine them [sic] about any biases they might have.
So, if they don’t call the whistleblower in the House, this thing is dead on arrival in the Senate.
Sen. Graham then doubled down on that declaration during this morning’s interview.
After Sen. Graham acknowledges a long list of improprieties and serious due process denials within the House impeachment process, Ms. Bartiromo inquires whether Chairman Graham will give President Trump his day in court.
Bartiromo: Will the president get a fair trial? Are you going to demand that people like the whistleblower, Adam Schiff, Alexandra Chalupa, Fusion GPS, are these some of the people or organizations you’re going to want to question?
Graham: …But here’s what I’m going to do with the trial. I’m going to try to get it over with as quickly as possible…
Let them present their case, and if there’s nothing new and dramatic, I’m would be ready to vote [to dismiss].
Bartiromo: So, are you saying that you’re now going to have people come down…
Graham: I’m saying that I’m going to end this as quickly as I can for the good of the country. When 51 of us say we’ve heard enough the trial is going to end.
Stop to ponder what that means. This deal was likely cut a long time ago in an attempt to drive down President Trump’s approval ratings prior to the 2020 election. It failed.
But, Pelosi knew all along that the Democrat-RINO power structure was never under any real threat of being exposed from her impeachment overreach because the Republican power structure that controls the Senate had assured her it was never going to allow the president to present a defense.
Maintaining control of the House has never been as important as blocking President Trump’s agenda that would result in the dismantling of the UniParty scam that has left our children $23 Trillion in debt.

“…The political establishment that is trying to stop us is the same group responsible for our disastrous trade deals, massive illegal immigration, and economic and foreign policies that have bled our country dry.”
