Opinion| Mark Sidney| The DS would not be the worthy adversary, the behemoth, the Goliath, that it is today, if it was not good at installing gatekeepers and minions in places where they could control the damage and cover up their crimes.
Unfortunately, the fearless, and now famous (in patriot political junkie circles at least) FISA Court Judge, Rosemary Collyer, has announced that she was be retiring from her post, due to ‘health issues.’
If you recall, Judge Collyer was the FISA court Judge who issued the stunning rebuke of the DS and their abuse of/allowing the abuse of, the NSA databases:
I do not know what side of the political isle the Judge is on, but it really does not matter, as she had the intestinal fortitude to issue this stunning rebuke of the NSA. Collyer stated that the NSA showed an ‘institutional lack of candor’, pointing out that the abuses (further explained in her decision below) were in fact a ‘ … very serious Fourth Amendment Issue”
She went on to alert the public that the NSA AND the Federal Bureau of Investigations committed ‘widespread’ violations and implied that the agencies we … less than forthcoming, and ‘waited to notify the court’, i.e. deceived it, IMHO.
Judge Collyer ‘blew the whistle’, stating that a stunning 85% of searches of the NSA’s vast, and … ‘Constitutionally questionable’ databases were ‘non-compliant.’ I’m not a lawyer, but that sounds like she is implying they were ‘illegal’ to me.
Now, surprisingly (? ) the honorable Judge is stepping aside.
The Gateway Pundit reported that
‘Chief Justice Roberts tapped Judge James Boasberg, an Obama appointee to replace Collyer.
On Friday, Judge Boasberg announced in an order that he has appointed Obama-era national security leader at the DOJ David S. Kris as amicus counsel to review the reforms the FBI will be making to its FISA application process.
This order was in response to the FBI abusing the FISA process after it obtained a total of four FISA warrants on Carter Page.
The government had until Friday January 10 (today) to “inform the Court…of what it has done, and plans to do, to ensure that the statement of facts in each FBI application accurately and completely reflects information possessed by the FBI that is material to any issue presented by the application.”’
Boasberg, the man tapped to replace Judge Collyer, who admitted too much, wrote:
It is critically important that FBI applications accurately and fully reflect information known to the Bureau that is material to those applications. In view of that significance, the Court, pursuant to 50 U.S.C. § 1803(i)(2)(B), finds it appropriate to appoint DavidS. Kris, Esq., to serve as amicus curiae to assist the Court in assessing the government’s response to the December 17, 2019, Order, and therefore
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:
(1) Mr. Kris is appointed to serve as amicus curiae in the above-captioned matter to assist
the Court in assessing the government’s response to the December 17, 2019, Order;
(2) The amicus curiae is invited to submit written views regarding the government’s
submission by January 31 , 2020; and
(3) The attorney for the government in this matter shall ensure that the Attorney General
receives a copy of this Order pursuant to the notification requirement at Section 1803(i)(7).
So, let’s take a moment to take stock of what just happened. A FISA court judge has the stones to issue a ruling that later becomes public, showing the rampant abuse of our intelligence apparatus, and presto, she is replaced. Yes, she stepped down, but I’m skeptical of the reasoning. However, even if we assume the reason is accurate … she is being replaced with a fox to guard the hen house.
‘Maybe the replacement is even more hardcore than she is, maybe he is a patriot who is going to expose the corruption and hold those who make the Stasi look like 3rd rate PI’s accountable’, you may say.
Well, let us look at what this appointee, of the new appointee (Boasberg), David Kris, has Tweeted out:
First, the report repudiates the claims of a coup and related deep-state conspiracies in the FBI as advanced by President Trump and his supporters. 2/9

Yeaaaaah, soooooo, don’t hold your breath. It sure looks like the DS has managed to get their stop gap in place in the FISA Court.
But do not fret, FBI Director Wray, who has done absolutely nothing, as far as I can tell, to rein in an FBI, who now makes J Edgar Hover look like a saint, produced … a new training video. the video lays out the DS’, I mean the FBI’s, plan to add oversight (? ) in response to the abuses against Carter Page (and likely countless others.)
When I say this is a cover up, what I mean is that these men are not going to blow the whistle on anything they illegal discover occurred during the lead up to 2016. Nor do I think they will put any meaningful reforms in place, at least none that will be followed.
It is becoming clear that Attorney General Barr, and US Attorney Durham, are our last hope for saving the justice apparatus of the Republic.
Why Trump has not canned Wray and cleaned house further at the DOJ, FBI, CIA, NSA, etc, is beyond my comprehension.
I doubted Trump when he bombed the Syrian chemical weapons facility. I was worried that he was caving to the Neocons’ and Neoliberal’s’ insatiable appetite for war in Syria. I worried that things would escalate and we would end up in another multi decade war abroad.
Luckily, Trump quickly proved me wrong to doubt him. I pray that this will turn out to be another one of these situations, for if those who have transgressed against our God given liberties, and the Republic itself, are not held to account, I fear they never will be, and the national will fall to George and his cabal of Trotskyites.
