Opinion| Carmine Sabia| Atlanta Police Department officers have begun to walk out of the job after a police officer was charged with felony murder in the killing of Rayshard Brooks.
Brooks was shot by police after fighting them and shooting a Taser at them after stealing it from one of the officers.
Members of the department were so incensed with the charges on Wednesday that they began walking out, political strategist Seth Weathers reported on Twitter.
“CONFIRMED: Source confirms Atlanta PD zones 3 & 6 (southeast area) already have 20 – 30 cops walk out That’s HALF an entire shift More updates to follow,” he said.

“APD responds to rumors of walkouts: ‘Earlier suggestions that multiple officers from each zone had walked off the job were inaccurate. However, department is experiencing a higher than usual number of call outs with the incoming shift,” WBS-TV reported.
‘We have enough resources to maintain operations and remain able to respond to incidents throughout the city,’” it said.
People on Facebook are already saying that they will donate to a GoFundMe to help any police officer who walks off the job in Atlanta.
Dear Atlanta PD we will start a GoFundMe to support your families. How many unreasonable restrictions do Democrats think they can place on you before you say f**k it?
