The Durham Association of Educators (DAE) is making ridiculous demands before they will agree to return to school.
Here is the list of what the teachers demand (And I use the term loosely):
Universal healthcare for everyone including all 22 million illegal aliens.
Guaranteed minimum wage for all, including illegal aliens.
Moratoriums on rents and mortgages.
What does any of this have to do with teaching school? I do stand by the teacher’s right to refuse to return to work. After all, this is America and if they want to give away their job to people who want to teach, we should not stop them. They have the God-given right to be unemployed.
But, these teachers aren’t the only ones making demands that go far beyond teaching. In Los Angeles, the teachers are demanding the closure of all charter schools, the police are defunded, Medicare for All, the wealthy are taxed more and the district is bailed out by the federal government.
The AAP released another statement on July 10 that clarified their previous one, saying in part:
Returning to school is important for the healthy development and well-being of children, but we must pursue re-opening in a way that is safe for all students, teachers and staff. Science should drive decision-making on safely reopening schools. Public health agencies must make recommendations based on evidence, not politics. We should leave it to health experts to tell us when the time is best to open up school buildings and listen to educators and administrators to shape how we do it.
I just have three words for the LA teachers and the first two are ‘kiss, my….’
In New Jersey teachers are demanding that students wear masks from the time they leave home until they return home and every student must be tested every single week.
Why not throw in world peace and a free house for all Americans including children?
