Sanctuary city policies are great for illegal aliens but honest law-abiding citizens….not so much.
No matter how many times the liberal Democrats have it proven to them they are dead wrong, they refuse to roll back their ill-fated policies. Sanctuary cities and states is one such example.
An illegal gets arrested for a crime, sometimes many crimes and instead of turning them over to ICE, they set them free and of course, they do what criminals do. They commit crimes. Julio Andres Gonzalez-Palacios, a 23-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, is such a case.
Gonzalez-Palacios was in Denver Police Custody after being arrested for assault and burglary. They gave ICE just 3 1/2 hours notice as to his release which of course is not enough time to transfer custody, which of course they knew.
The very next day Gonzalez-Palacios attacked a female jogger with a board and she was taken to the hospital in serious condition. This was a very preventable crime but Democrats favor illegal aliens over American citizens, and it will get much worse if Biden wins in November.
ICE had placed a detainer on Gonzalez-Palacios on July 10th and he was released the same day but without sufficient notice. Congress needs to pass a law that holds cities and states financially responsible for any illegal alien they decide to free and put back on the street. The only good news is that the woman did not die.
Colorado ICE official John Fabbricatore said :
“This was a completely preventable crime. Gonzalez-Palacios could have been safely transferred to ICE custody and he may have been removed from the country, but due to Colorado’s misguided sanctuary law, law enforcement agencies are no longer able to work with us to keep repeat offenders off the streets.”
According to ICE, Gonzalez-Palacios has been convicted of multiple crimes in Denver since 2017, including theft, assault, failure to appear in court, and trespassing.
Gonzalez-Palacios first entered the United States on a B visa, meant for temporary visitors. He was supposed to leave the U.S. by June 4, 2017, but instead has remained illegally present in the country.
Gonzalez-Palacios is currently being held at the Arapahoe County Jail. ICE officials have again placed a detainer on the illegal alien, requesting he be turned over to their custody if released at an
