ICYMI| Virtue signaling CEO’s like Uber boss Dara Khosrowshahi are falling all over themselves to prove they’re not racists. In the case of UberEats, Khosrowshahi’s wokeness actually led her to invoke a blatantly racist policy where none had previously existed.
That’s right. Uber replaced an equality-based system with one that is racially biased… You can’t make this stuff up.
You asked for a way to find Black-owned restaurants on Uber Eats. 🖤 We listened.
You can support and order from Black-owned restaurants across the US & Canada with a $0 Delivery Fee. See app for terms & availability. pic.twitter.com/J2CBMJMfXN

(NY Post) In an email to customers late Thursday, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said Uber Eats will promote black-owned restaurants on its app, and that the service will not charge delivery fees to those restaurants “for the remainder of the year.”
Uber will also offer discounted rides to black-owned small businesses “who have been hit hard by COVID-19,” though it did not add how much of a discount would be given.
The obvious question is what if some CEO offered a similar arrangement to white-owned businesses only? Or to Asian-owned restaurants, or restaurants owned by Hispanics, Indians, Jews, or any other ethnic group.
We won’t go there. There’s enough to hang UberEats and Khosrowshahi elsewhere…
Uber Technologies promised to donate $1 million to the Equal Justice Initiative and the Center for Policing Equity.
Khosrowshahi released a statement saying, “We know this isn’t enough. It won’t be enough until we see true racial justice.”
According to Attorney Harmeet Dhillonto, Uber Eat’s promotion violates California’s Unruh Act, which outlaws discrimination based on race, color, sex, disability, and other personal factors.
This is not only pandering but it violates California's Unruh Act & other civil rights laws. You know what? Restaurants are owned by, hire, & serve ALL kinds of people, & they ALL have rights to equal protection & freedom from discrimination. Try harder. https://t.co/eAw1nOMwwa

So @UberEats is actually segregating restaurants by the race of the owner and offering different pricing on that basis?
Does no one seriously recognize the issue with that?
I thought it was a joke when someone sent it to me, but then saw it on the app.

Putting aside the obvious legal questions, the road to equality can't be paved by discrimination.

Yes. A smarter, and more justifiable, approach would be to target neighborhoods affected by the riots or looting. But instead. they are creating a tiered fee structure based solely on the race of the restaurant owner. https://t.co/TTaE1qkpyv

Being racist is the new anti racism … Being a fascist is the new antifa or anti fascist …. welcome\ to 1984!
