It is apparent that the Biden regime will do nothing to protect free speech, which Democrats fear almost as much as they fear Donald Trump.
Therefore, it is up to the states to protect their citizens from being silenced because they are conservatives. Hefty fines won’t mean much to the deep pockets controlled by social media.
Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida is the first governor to propose legislation making this behavior illegal.
DeSantis tore into the tech companies saying that their financial interests are at odds with the public interest.
He says he aims to protect the privacy of Floridians from tech companies that sell their user’s private information to anyone with the money to pay for it.
He also plans to stand up for the free speech rights of those who voted for him.
Fines won’t work if a law were passed that allowed the state to ban companies who invade privacy and restrict free speech it would.
Once one state passes such a law, many other states would quickly follow suit. How ironic would that be? Imagine Facebook being banned in the third-largest state in the union. That would cost them dearly. And then other states could join in and put a damper on their revenue stream.
Their advertising fees would take a huge hit. Stockholders would not be happy and they could unload their stock dropping the value of the big tech companies.
DeSantis said:

“These platforms have played an increasingly decisive role in elections and have negatively impacted Americans who dissent from orthodoxies favored by the Big Tech cartel.”
