Yesterday at CPAC, President Trump revealed that he offered 10,000 national Guard troops for the Capitol on January sixth. That brings up two very interesting questions.
If Trump wanted a riot why would he offer 10,000 National Guard troops? And if Pelosi expected a right-wing riot, why would she turn the help down? Unless of course, Pelosi was hoping for trouble she could lay at Trump’s feet.
I never bought Pelosi’s excuse about the optics. Since when did Democrats worry about what their actions looked like?
There seems to be no real reason not to accept the added security.
We know she was warned about trouble being expected on that date. I believe she turned down the help and was hoping for a riot. Maybe AOC should have blamed Pelosi for trying to get her murdered.
Trump told Fox News that he was worried about the crowd size and offered to supply 10,000 National Guard troops but that he was turned down flat. Trump told Steve Hilton that he was afraid the crowd would be large and that his offer was conveyed to Pelosi who turned down the offer, stating that it would be bad optics. I guess Pelosi suffered from an optical delusion.
Fox News contacted Pelosi’s office and the Department of Defense did not immediately respond to Fox. I suspect both will dodge answering the question that could show them in a bad light. Pelosi will initially deny it until she is caught in the lie and then will try to deflect the blame onto Trump.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Fox News earlier this month that he is in favor of a 9/11-style commission to examine key details that contributed to last month’s deadly riot at the Capitol.
Republicans have signaled that evidence could show that Democrat leaders were aware of the threat and did little to prevent the Jan. 6 attack.
Pelosi said the commission will “investigate and report on the facts and causes relating to the January 6, 2021, domestic terrorist attack upon the United States Capitol Complex … and relating to the interference with the peaceful transfer of power.”
Earlier this month, Mark Meadows, the former White House chief of staff, told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo” that Trump issued a “direct order” to have up to 10,000 troops ready.
