The left has exploited the rights Americans have to protest and petition the federal government to the point that it is dangerous to participate in politics in many cases. After a prior summer of riots, arson attacks, lootings, and murder unfolding, while people claimed to be protesting, it is time for the Government to step in and protect lives and property. Iowa’s State Government is leading the way.
“Iowa governor signs ‘Back the Blue’ bill that increases penalties for protest-related crimes. The law makes rioting a felony rather than a misdemeanor and increases penalties for blocking streets.”
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed the “Back the Blue” bill into law on Thursday, increasing penalties for protest-related crimes.
“We encourage First Amendment rights to protest peacefully, but if you break the law, you’re going to be held accountable,” the governor said, according to KCCI-TV in Des Moines.
Reynolds said those who riot, loot, or attack officers “will be punished to the full extent of the law. The public peace is too important, and the safety of our officers too precious, to tolerate destructive behavior.”

The bill expands qualified immunity, further criminalizes riots, and prohibits defunding of the police, which is a big win for law and order.
QUALIFIED IMMUNITY AND WHY THE LEFT HATES IT
The Iowa bill addresses a hot button topic for the left called “Qualified Immunity,” which is the foundation of the defunding of the police movement. Consider this article by New York Times contributor Jane Coaston.
“One of the strongest calls for police reform is to end a legal doctrine called qualified immunity. Advocates for change argue it would be one of the most immediate ways to hold officers more accountable for their actions. But critics say it would leave police vulnerable when they’re faced with life-threatening situations.
Qualified immunity protects government officials from some lawsuits if they violate a person’s constitutional rights in the course of their duties. If you’ve heard of police officers getting away with unconstitutional behavior and wondered how it might have been because they had qualified immunity.”
I’ve wanted to do an episode on qualified immunity since I got to the Times. This is that episode. https://t.co/7Fv9kLyDH7

Qualified Immunity is a rallying call for the leftist protest movement to push for the social justice changes, where Marxist movements go around the US voter to demand changes to the government, giving no one a chance to debate the topic or vote on it.
Coaston is a leader in the movement to change the nature of and police service, noting that other states are taking action to protect the population, which she disagrees with.
The battle is over the federalization of the police, which would be a lot more money in the coffers of the left. Considering how well people are enjoying the last 20 years of the federalization of public education, we can see where the left’s massive federal authority over Americans- utopia is headed.
Here is some more reading on Coaston and her beef with the police and qualified immunity.
Seriously, expanding qualified immunity is not good, no matter how good the police purportedly are
