Because Republicans and conservatives, mainly Trump voters, and not Representative Liz Cheney(RINO-WY), had so many concerns about the extraordinary amount of voting irregularities during the 2020 presidential election, states, where Republicans control the legislatures, began writing election integrity laws to make it harder to cheat in elections.
Article I, Section 4 of the US Constitution gives state legislatures that power:
“The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.” [Emphasis added]
The Democrat’s reaction to Republicans trying to protect the sanctity of the vote for everyone was to create the very first bill of the new Congressional session, HR-1, that aims to have the federal government – read House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) – to take over all fifty states’ election laws, rules, and procedures. In other words, the Democrats want to nationalize elections to make it easier to cheat and/or make it much easier for Democrats to win elections. If they succeed with its passage, it will be known as one of the biggest power grabs in our nation’s history. And you know it’s bad because no one in the mainstream news media is talking about it for what it really is; a power grab.
The bill has many people worrying that the very irregularities that took place during the 2020 election will become officially government-sanctioned. Things like ballot harvesting and drop boxes where political operatives can drop of thousands of ballots without anyone knowing where they came from.
Not a single Republican voted for the bill in the House and not a single one would have voted for it in the Senate. It’s currently in limbo in the rules committee 9-9. How can Democrats sit across the table from their Republican colleagues and act like they are supporting the country and our Constitution by pushing such a bill?
When the bill was destined to die because Democrats failed to get the 60 votes needed to beat a filibuster people realized it didn’t really matter because Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) has decided to kill it, saying that he supports a different “voting rights” bill.
“I believe Democrats and Republicans feel very strongly about protecting the ballot boxes allowing people to protect the right to vote making it accessible making it fair and making it secure and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, if we apply that to all 50 states and territories, it’s something that can be done — it should be done. It could be done bipartisan to start getting confidence back in our system.”
Joe Manchin, a Democrat, may end up being the savior of our republic. He came out against removing the filibuster rule which would have allowed Democrats in the Senate majority to shove through anything they wanted with a 50-50 vote with Vice President Harris breaking the tie. And now he’s against the radical progressives in his party violating the Constitution by having the federal government take cover election laws in all states. Manchin seems to be the only Democrat left with common sense who loves our Constitutional system and yet the Left will treat him like a pariah because of it.
With that said, it appears that the John Lewis Voting Rights Act isn’t going to get through the Senate either, so Manchin may have used that as an excuse to go against HR-1 in the Senate version. Personally, I don’t care why he did it; he did the right thing for our country. Our republic will never survive if we allow radical Democrats to rewrite all the rules to ensure they stay in power forever like a third-world country.
I wouldn’t want a Republican majority to do that either, though the difference is the Republicans would never do that.
Right now, conservatives have absolutely nothing in common with the radical progressive Marxists. But they have many things in common with liberal Democrats. Liberals and conservatives want clean water and clean air, more jobs, and better education for their kids. Progressives, on the other hand, want to destroy women’s sports, replace a fossil fuel economy by forcing green technology on the country before it’s been proven to be capable of doing so. They want to have illegal migrants invade our country for political power at the expense of changing our American culture forever. While conservatives and liberals believe that the content of someone’s character is what’s important the progressive Woke Supremacy wants to inflict government-sanctioned racism against white Americans because of their Big Lie that our country is systemically racist.
A big problem we’re going to face sooner than we think is when people from both sides decide that there is no living with each other anymore. Whereas conservatives and liberals can live side by side respecting their differences progressive Marxists are violent and demand submission or else. No republic can survive what the Woke Supremacy wants to do, but maybe if we had more Joe Manchin’s we can ride it out a little longer.
