The Olympics are normally a time when Americans can forget all the political crap that goes on and come together under a shared sense of love of country and patriotic nationalism. We root for the US team!
But not all of us. There is one US Olympic athlete who speaks of a dream to stand on the winner’s platform just to express the exact opposite.
Last year, Fox News reported on a Facebook post where a BMX freestyle rider, Chelsea Wolfe stated that being able to burn the American flag while standing on the podium was the motivating factor that drives her to accomplish her dream. Wolfe is a transgender biological male.
“My goal is to win the Olympics so I can burn a US flag on the podium. This is what they focus on during a pandemic. Hurting trans children,” wrote Wolfe, who qualified to be an alternate for this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, posted on March 25, 2020.
Let’s hope the little Che Guevara doesn’t pull a Tonya Harding on the first place athlete just to get the chance to trash the country that allowed her to compete for the US Olympic Team.
Wolfe added a link to a story headlined, “Trump administration officially declares it believes trans girls should be treated as ‘biological males.’”
So Wolfe is angry that the Trump administration countered the transgender movement’s gender-swapping lunacy by making a statement that is so understandably and undeniably true that we don’t even need science to explain it; transgender females are still biological males.
Wolfe told Fox News that the post, which has since been deleted, wasn’t meant to communicate disdain for America. But instead, it was an attempt to “take a stand against fascism”:
“Anyone who thinks that I don’t care about the United States is sorely mistaken,” Wolfe told Fox News. “One of the reasons why I work so hard to represent the United States in international competition is to show the world that this country has morals and values, that it’s not all of the bad things that we’re known for. I take a stand against fascism because I care about this country and I’m not going to let it fall into the hands of fascists after so many people have fought and sacrificed to prevent fascism from taking hold abroad. As a citizen who wants to be proud of my home country, I’m sure as hell not going to let it take hold here.”
Wolfe was born a biological male and suffers from a mental illness known as “Gender Dysphoria” that is listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5). The book is published by the American Psychiatric Association.
Nothing about America is holding Wolfe back. As a transgender biological male, Wolfe is being offered a chance to compete as a female in the upcoming games hosted by Japan on the US Olympic BMX Racing Team even though he is a male. To deny that statement is Orwellian Newspeak.
Earlier this month, in an Instagram post announcing his acceptance as an alternate, Wolfe discussed her journey as a transgender BMX rider.
“I searched for so long trying to find out if there had ever been a professional trans bmx rider to show me that who I am would be okay and unfortunately I found no one. I had the badass cis women inspire me but there was always a disconnect,” Wolfe said. “Eventually I started to meet some amazing women who helped me accept that I am a woman just like any other and that I deserve a place to exist in the world just like everyone else.”
In order to be allowed to compete as a transgendered female athlete, the International Olympic Committee stipulates that transgender athletes must declare that their gender identity is female and cannot change that declaration for at least four years.
I think the fact that people feel that they can change their gender identity as often as they change their socks is a serious problem for any society on earth. Think of all the changes that one would have to make every time they decide they want to wear a dress or pants: Driver’s license, birth certificate, public restroom, employment personnel file, medical records, underwear, and anything else that deals with gender as we enable them rather than help them.
Also, in the name of “fair competition,” a transgender female has to be tested for a specified testosterone level at least one year before competitions. Isn’t that admitting that the person is a biological male? If Wolfe submits to that test, then once again, Donald Trump was right.
