Harris Faulkner of Fox News is getting pretty sick of the comparison of Texas Democrats who have betrayed the people of Texas who pay their salaries and have jetted off to Washington D.C. where they are being lionized for playing hooky from their jobs. They are framing themselves as today’s civil rights crusaders, equal to those who marched in Memphis. That is nothing more than a sick joke.
The civil rights marchers were beaten, arrested, and generally treated like they were less than human.
But, the Texas Democratic legislators boarded a private jet with cold brewskis and I imagine some really cool snacks. Upon their arrival in Washington, they checked themselves into luxury hotel rooms and they eat at the finest restaurants as they make their way through an adoring public and media sycophants. The two could not be more different.
Know what else is different? The civil rights marchers actually accomplished something. Maybe not as far or as quickly as they would have liked, but it was progress. The Democratic legislators are grandstanding but at the end of the day, nothing will be changed. The votes will be taken and the legislation will pass.
Kamala Harris said:
“They took bold, courageous action in line with the legacy of Frederick Douglass, to the legacy that involves women who marched down Pennsylvania Avenue, and all those folks who shed blood on the bridge in 1965 to pass the Voting Rights Act.”
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany asked:
“What a comparison. That’s Vice President Harris equating Democrats who fled Texas to block passing the state’s election security bill with U.S. heroes of the civil rights movement?”
“Those trailblazers who boarded private jets to hide out in D.C. and eat Caesar salads. Harris, I cannot get over this comparison. Bloody Sunday, you know, the march from Selma to Montgomery when we had 17 individuals hospitalized and dozens more injured. The women marching for suffrage in 1913, a hundred women hospitalized — compared to Texas lawmakers with Miller Lite and chartered planes?”
Faulkner added:
“These are things that we know well as Americans. Not as white, not as black, just as Americans. It is part of our shared American history. I want Kamala Harris as vice president to say something about the words that she said. I want her to recognize that people are not being beaten in the streets right now, that we are not at the same place that we were and unless we are very careful, we could go to new places we don’t want to be.”
“She’s calling these people on a private plane, you know I love me some Miller Lite, but they are not paying for any of it.”
This excursion to Washington is a very expensive proposition with the costs of two p0rivate jets, hotel rooms, cabs, and meals. Who is paying for it? Legislators in Texas is just a part-time proposition. Inquiring minds want to know.
