It is beginning to seem like Republicans don’t even need to criticize Joe Biden because the Democrats are doing plenty of that themselves. Biden claimed that there was no avoiding the chaos in evacuating Americans from Afghanistan.
The Democrats announced they were going to investigate what happened.
He also claimed that no one could have anticipated how quickly the Taliban could take control of the country.
His CIA and members of his State Department in Kabul both warned him that this could happen.
Biden denied that his generals never advised him to leave troops in Afghanistan during the evacuation. But they deny that and said they did tell him he should leave troops in the country during evacuation.
Then, Joe Biden said he was not aware of any Americans being beaten in Afghanistan, but Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin contradicted Joe Biden and said Americans trying to get to Kabul airport have been “beaten” by the Taliban.
Biden obviously thought he could lie and everyone else would swear to it, but that is not happening. Either his underlings refuse to be his scapegoat or perhaps they are looking to dump Biden for Kamala Harris.
The problem with that is that Harris is the most unpopular vice president in history and she is an extremist and could help the Republicans take both houses of Congress in 2022.
Politico reported:
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told lawmakers Friday that Americans trying to leave Afghanistan have been beaten by Taliban fighters, according to several people who participated in a briefing call with Austin and other top officials.
During the briefing call, Austin called the reports of Taliban beatings “unacceptable,” but did not elaborate on efforts to ensure Americans’ safe passage to Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan’s capital city. He specifically declined to “rule in or out” the possibility of U.S. troops moving beyond the airport to help Americans and others get to safety.
“We’re also aware that some people, including Americans, have been harassed and even beaten by the Taliban,” Austin said on the call, according to multiple sources. “This is unacceptable and [we] made it clear to the designated Taliban leader.”
Austin added that “with the exception of those cases, we continue to see Americans and appropriately credentialed Afghans continue to move through.”
