On Tuesday, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan refused to commit to US troops remaining in Afghanistan until all Americans and US allies were evacuated from the region and would not go beyond sticking to the Biden administration’s August 31 deadline. Thousands of American citizens are now left behind by the feckless Biden administration.
The Pentagon believes between 5,000 and 10,000 Americans are still inside the country. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told the Washington Post that Saturday night he learned during a briefing with top administration officials that there are as many as 60,000 people eligible to be evacuated from Afghanistan, including Afghan allies.
“I’m not going to comment on hypotheticals, what I’m going to do is stay focused on the task at hand, which is getting as many people out as rapidly as possible and we will take that day by day,” Sullivan said when asked about our military continuing evacuation efforts beyond the given deadline.
On Tuesday, John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, said that between 5,000 and 10,000 are in Kabul, and that was after he had already admitted he had no clue how many there were or where. The Biden administration left behind thousands of Americans to be stranded among possibly the worst people on the planet.
White House mouthpiece Jen Psaki said during the same briefing with Sullivan that there were at least 11,000 Americans still there, including journalists, translators, contractors, aid workers, NGO and government workers.
Sullivan, possibly the most gullible national security advisor ever, said as the situation on the ground deteriorated by the minute after the fall of the Aghan government, that the Taliban vowed to allow for the safe passage of civilians to the airport, mentioning the administration is in talks over a timetable for evacuations.
“We are talking to them about what the exact timetable is for how this will all play out, and I don’t want to negotiate in public on working out the best modality to get the most people out in the most efficient way possible. By and large, what we have found is that people have been able to get to the airport,” he said.
But Sullivan was vague on whether we can believe in the Taliban’s commitment.
“There have been instances where we have received reports of people being turned away or pushed back or even beaten. We are taking that up in a channel with the Taliban to try to resolve those issues. And we are concerned about whether that will continue to unfold in the coming days.”
CBS News was the first to report that the State Department would not guarantee security for American citizens as they try to make it to the airport. The Taliban are in control of all the roads that lead to the airport. Who knows that they will do to Americans who try to travel as time goes on?
Psaki, like Sullivan, would not give a direct answer on whether US troops will still be there next month.
“Our focus right now is on doing the work at hand, on the task at hand, and that is day by day,” Psaki said at the briefing.
On Tuesday, State Department Press Secretary Ned Price said that civilians should “shelter in place until and unless you receive a communication from the US Embassy.” Shelter in place until the administration gets around to helping them.
Joe Biden was able to get the country to agree that his administration’s colossal blundering of troop withdrawal as critics argue Biden failed to take responsibility for what’s going on where the president is harming our national security and alienating our allies around the world.
And this clown car administration doubled down on its foreign policy blunders, claiming they believe their actions in Afghanistan prioritized American lives. They say those kinds of things while not providing any evidence they really mean it.
So the administration gets a pass until their self-defined deadline of August 31. Who knows what will happen to the stranded Americans inside the terror haven between now and then? This is what happens when our mainstream news media interferes in our elections, favoring Democrats.
