ICYMI| Texas state Democrats left the state to overthrow a vote in the state legislature, which they were going to lose, and they ran to Washington DC, their safe place for corruption, and mocked Americans all the way. Republican Governor, Greg Abbott, announced they will be arrested upon their return.
Texas’ Abbott says Dems who ‘fled’ state over elections bill will be arrested upon return. Republicans argue the contentious bill would provide greater election security.
Gov. Greg Abbott, the Texas Republican, criticized state Democrats who fled to Washington, D.C., on Monday in an effort to deprive the Legislature of a quorum, thus the ability to vote on the GOP’s sweeping elections overhaul bill.
On Monday, Abbott appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” to defend the bill and say the missing lawmakers will be arrested upon their return to the state. He said members of the Texas House of Representatives who are still in the state can call for the arrests of their colleagues who do not show up to vote. The one caveat is the arrest has to be made in the state.
“They are running from a job which they was voted in to do and for which they are paid. They are subverting democracy,” One poster wrote on Twitter in reaction to the story.
Key Point: How different is this from what Democrats claim Jan 6th is about? Democrats interfered with a legal vote on state voting rights by conspiring to leave the state, and Kamala Harris encouraged them. Their official statement said they were fighting, and their language shows that they are indeed fighting.
ALL SMILES
Democrats mean it when they say “by any means necessary,” including cheating, and they are no longer trying to hide that. There is no shame in their minds about what they did, and their base appears to support these tactics.
Here they are bragging online, all smiles, while fleeing their official duties.
Julie Johnson posted about and bragged that Texas state Democrats “broke quorum” on purpose to avoid the Voting Rights bill.
When it comes to protecting our right to vote, all cards are on the table. We broke #quorum again today because the Gov & #txlege Repubs chose to bully Texans out of our constitutional rights instead of finding solutions to problems that really exist. #SuppressionSession #DemsOut https://t.co/muMdHLSy9F pic.twitter.com/9UbJnB8ehW

Axios reported on the story and Harris’ position:
Harris on Monday applauded Texas House Democrats who fled the state in protest of Republicans’ proposed voting restrictions.
Why it matters: Texas’ partisan tussle represents a broader fight over voting rights taking place in state legislatures across the country, as well as in the federal government.
What she’s saying: At a voting rights event in Detroit, Harris said the Democrats were “showing extraordinary courage and commitment.”
“I applaud them standing for the rights of all Americans and all Texans to express their voice through their vote, unencumbered,” Harris said. “I will say that they are leaders who are marching in the path that so many others before did, when they fought and many died for our right to vote.”
“Fighting for the right to vote is as American as apple pie,” she added. State of play: In Texas, Republicans in both chambers have introduced bills that would ban drive-through and 24-hour voting options and expand access for partisan poll watchers, among other provisions.
The House is set to reconvene Tuesday morning, but with at least 51 of the 67 Democrats leaving the state for D.C., there will not be enough members present to conduct business under House rules, according to the Tribune.
Dear @SenateGOP:
Keep this in your back pocket.
Under the U.S. Constitution, @SenateDems need a quorum of 51 senators to do anything.
They only have 50.
And @VP @KamalaHarris’s vote doesn’t count, even if she decided to show up to work. https://t.co/nKOKIuPP1n

The mockery of Americans and our Republic is shocking. Here is Chinese Gene Wu, who loves the abuse he hurls on Americans.
Landed safely in DC.
Officially out of arrest jurisdiction of Gov. Abbott.
It was wonderfully to randomly run into people who recognized me and applauded what we are doing. pic.twitter.com/3F8uH1wbPs

To all the MAGA Troopers and GOP simps who are crying little snowflake tears about me saying that people recognized me…
HAHAHA. Thanks for letting me in your little heads.
I'm going to like it here.
