I can’t believe I had to write that title. Twenty years ago, I would have thought it was a joke. It’s still a joke, but a really bad one. But, when a Democrat is involved, it’s not surprising. The Senators in Pennsylvania subpoenaed documents pertaining to the last election and the state gives them pages filled with redactions or they give them nothing at all.
The current Secretary of State, Leigh M. Chapman, was not around for the 2020 election. She was appointed by Gov Tom Wolf. But, this is not about 2020 as much as it is about the 2022 midterm elections. While it is true that the Sec of State does oversee elections in the states, the rules governing the vote come from the legislature and she must by law carry out the wishes of the legislature.

Senators Corman and Dush Comment on Petition to Compel Compliance with Election Investigation Subpoena
HARRISBURG – Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-Bellefonte) and Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee Chair Cris Dush (R-Jefferson) issued the following statement today after filing a petition to compel the Department of State to comply with a subpoena for information relevant to the committee’s election investigation:
“Throughout the past several months since our investigation began, the Wolf Administration, Senate Democrats and Attorney General Shapiro have unfairly denied a co-equal branch of government the tools necessary to repair the vulnerabilities of our election system. Today’s legal action is intended to finally bring their needless delays and continued obstruction to an end.
“It is an embarrassment to our Commonwealth that the Department of State still refuses to comply with a legal, legitimate subpoena from a co-equal branch of government. The fact that the Department wouldn’t even turn over basic information included in the subpoena without pages upon pages of unexplained redactions shows they have no respect for the legislature or the courts. They should not be allowed to thumb their nose at the other two branches of government with impunity.
“Millions of Pennsylvanians have lost confidence in our elections. They deserve an election system they can believe in, and that can only happen with full transparency. We will not stop fighting to improve our voting system and repair the public’s faith in our elections – no matter how much our opponents try to obstruct, obfuscate and deceive the public about the intent of the investigation.”
