Rich Welsh| The Department of Justice (DOJ) bases the search warrant that the FBI used to raid former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home on an affidavit the DOJ is now trying to hide from the public.
Another FISA warrant dossier-like moment where fraudulent information was used to obtain the warrant to raid the immediate former president’s home?
“Information about witnesses is particularly sensitive given the high-profile nature of this matter and the risk that the revelation of witness identities would impact their willingness to cooperate with the investigation,” the DOJ said.
Would the “sensitive nature ” be the DOJ has weaponized federal law enforcement against its political enemies?
The warrant authorized over 30 federal agents to raid Trump’s Florida estate on the understanding that the former president and his team had not returned all documents that are deemed government property under the Presidential Records Act, specifically materials related to the National Archives and Records Administration.
“Disclosure of the government’s affidavit at this stage would also likely chill future cooperation by witnesses whose assistance may be sought as this investigation progresses, as well as in other high-profile investigations,” the DOJ said.
“There remain compelling reasons, including to protect the integrity of an ongoing law enforcement investigation that implicates national security, that support keeping the affidavit sealed,” the DOJ said while also saying it has no problem with other information related to the warrant being released.
It must be nice to have an “open investigation” card they can pull out every time they don’t want to face questions about their own seemingly nefarious actions.
A number of media outlets filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida to get to see the information presumably so they could use it to trash the former president.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) separately wrote to Avril Haines, the director of National Intelligence, and Attorney General Merrick Garland for more information on the raid. They will be stonewalled.
I believe the affidavit was questionable at best, something of the nature of Cassidy Hutchinson testimony at a January 6 Committee hearing with second and third hand information. When you go fishing in deep waters you tend to get wet. I would not be surprised if the affidavit is bogus given the nature of the now corrupted FBI and DOJ. They could have written something on a napkin and claimed it was a damning document against Trump. That’s how our banana republic now operates.
