The hits keep coming in 2022.
After a round of deaths in Hollywood last week, it seems the sports world is not going to escape getting their share of tragedy in the form of premature deaths.
I can not imagine what the family of this young man is going though and we ask that you pray for them in this time of extreme grief and confusion.
Here’s what we know so far …
The Gateway Pundit reported:
Florida International University (FIU) football player died suddenly Wednesday evening, the school announced on Thursday.
FIU Linebacker Luke Knox died at the age of 22, FIU Athletics confirmed.
The cause was not revealed, though the university said police do not suspect foul play, according to ESPN.
Knox transferred to FIU from Ole Miss. He’s the younger brother of Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox.
“We are saddened by the sudden passing of Luke Knox, a member of the FIU Football program,” FIU Athletics wrote on Twitter.
“We send our thoughts and prayers to Luke’s family, friends and teammates during this difficult time,” the post added.
“Words cannot express the heartfelt sorrow we feel because of the passing of our teammate and friend, Luke Knox. I had the honor of coaching Luke at Ole Miss and at FIU,” FIU head football coach Mike MacIntyre said in a statement.
“While I admired his passion for football, his genuine love for his family and teammates is what I will always remember. He had a special way of making everyone around him feel comfortable and confident. Luke’s family is special to me, and they will continually be in my heart and in my prayers during this difficult time. On behalf of the entire FIU football family, I extend sincere condolences to Luke’s family and all who love him,” the post concluded.
The Director of Athletics at FIU, Scott Carr, also wrote, “This is a devastating day for our department, especially for our players and coaches. Our thoughts and prayers are with Luke’s family and friends, and he will always be a part of the Panther Family. This really hurts.”
Professional American football team Buffalo Bills have expressed their condolences to Dawson and his family.
“Our hearts go out to Dawson and his family during this time and we’re right there with him and supporting him and his family and just tragic news that I woke up to this morning. So we love them and we support them and just unfortunate news this morning,” said Buffalo coach Sean Michael McDermott.
We’re heartbroken to hear of the sudden passing of Luke Knox.
