ervatives accuse DOJ of targeting pro-life activists //
Conservatives condemn the Department of Justice’s targeting of prolife activists and accuse the Justice Department of ignoring scores of attacks against pro-lifers.
President Joe Biden’s Justice Department recently detained Mark Houck, a Catholic father and prolife activist who was allegedly harassing his son. The Justice Department convicted 11 other pro-life activists of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, for preventing the opening of an abortion clinic in 2021.
wrote a viral tweet titled “Something truly evil is occurring at the DOJ,”. They are charging 11 prolife activists with blocking access to abortion clinics. This could lead to up to 11 years imprisonment and $250,000 in fines. The DOJ has charged 0 people with firebombing prolife pregnancy centers.
He said, “Peaceful protests against abortion clinics get your federal charges from DOJ.” “Acts of terror against pregnancy centers are completely legal.”
Since May’s leak of the draft opinion, at least 83 Catholic churches as well as 73 pregnancy resources or prolife organizations have been targeted.
Some of these prolife centers and organizations told The Daily Signal they have not heard from federal authorities. However, the FBI stated that it is investigating “a series attacks and threats targeting pregnant resource centers, faith-based organisations and reproductive health clinics across this country as well as to judicial building, including the U.S. Supreme Court.”
The FBI refused to share any updates with The Daily Signal about this investigation and did not say whether any arrests had been made in connection to these incidents. These findings were highlighted by The Daily Signal in a Thursday report. Republican strategist Matt Whitlock was prompted to highlight the “striking juxtaposition” between the FBI’s behavior.
He tweeted : “On the one hand, the FBI and DOJ take victory laps for arresting peaceful Pro-Lifers.” “On the other, they ignore firebombing or vandalism at pro-life crisis pregnancy centres (which have become a favorite target for liberals like Liz Warren of Massachusetts).
Susan B. Anthony Prolife America condemned the Biden administration’s targeting of pro-lifers in a Thursday statement.
“We are fed up with the Biden-Harris government’s gross abuse of the Justice Department. Pro-abortion Democrats will do anything to protect the abortion industry, which spends millions to elect them. They will also demonize pro-life advocates who work to save lives and turn a blind eye towards violence against them,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President, said.
“Pregnancy centres have been firebombed and an elderly canvasser, peacefully exercising her First Amendment rights, was shot in the back. The pro-life movement’s calls to equal justice under the law has been ignored. The FBI refuses to openly investigate and say whether arrests have been made in multiple attacks since the Dobbs decision was leaked. It is obvious that the administration has made it a point to silence anyone who dares to tell the truth about abortion taking the life of innocent children.
Heritage Action accused FBI of going after pro-lifers as if they were going after Bin Laden. They also pointed out that “when it is to radical leftists who act violence and vandalism towards pregnancy help centers, churches,” there is “silence” and “inaction” from Justice Department. (The Daily Signal, Heritage Action’s sister organization, is The Heritage Foundation’s news outlet.
The March for Life condemned the news that The Daily Signal would not reveal whether any arrests were made by the FBI in its investigation into the attacks against pro-life centers or organizations.
The organization stated that “What’s happening at FBI and DOJ appears to be a very far cry form equal justice under the law.”
Conservative columnist Ken Blackwell stated that the FBI’s double-standard of investigation was disgraceful. He was the former mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio. “Churches and pregnancy centres were violently attacked. Public safety can only be achieved by protecting everyone equally.
David Giglio was the vice president of Republican National Hispanic Assembly Madera County in California and called on Republicans to discipline Attorney general Merrick Garland.
He asked, “What is it going to take McCarthy and McConnell for them to say enough is enough? And publicly pledge to start the impeachment proceedings against Garland on Day One?” “At this rate there won’t be any conservatives outside of Guantanamo to email fundraising emails to after your hearings.”
Former Vice President Mike Pence’s Advancing America Freedom led a conservative coalition that demanded records from the Justice Department about the “continuing attacks against pro-life organisations” and whether the Justice Department was ignoring them.
“We are concerned that the work done by DOJ is being inappropriately politicized. Investigations into these acts against organizations disfavored under the current administration are being slowed-walked or ignored,” the organizations stated in the request. “The execution justice requires fair treatment under the law here, regardless the Biden administration’s sympathies.”
The Freedom of Information Act request noted that pro-life groups were “threatened”, their buildings “defaced and vandalized” and even “firebombed” as extremist groups continue to call for violence. The letter specifically mentions Nicholas Roske who traveled across the country with the stated intention to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The letter states that “This ongoing assault against prolife Americans, prolife institutions, even the Supreme Court of the United States, is a manifest injustice that demands a prompt and comprehensive response.”
