According to Stacey Abrams the Democrat nominee to governor in Georgia, abortion access could help reduce inflation rates.

Abrams stated that Abortion was an economic issue on Wednesday’s MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Abrams was asked about her plans for the governorship regarding “the cost of gasoline, food, and milk… to alleviate the concerns that Georgia voters have about those livability issues, daily, hourly, that they are confronted with.”

“But let’s not be reductive,” Abrams replied, “Having children is why your price for gasoline is high, it’s also why you worry about the cost of food.” This is not a reductionist issue for women.

Abrams stated that you cannot divorce if you are forced to have an unplanned pregnancy due to the economic realities of having children. “We don’t have any luxury of reducing it or separating them.”

According to the U.S. Labor Department, the September consumer prices index increased by more than 8 percent over the previous 12 months. The cost of food rose 11.2%, while energy costs increased by 19.8%.

Abrams is running to defeat the Georgia Republican incumbent governor. Brian Kemp. Abrams lost to Kemp during the 2018 gubernatorial elections.

Cody Hall, Kemp’s communication director, tweeted that the governor’s plan for fighting inflation included “suspend gasoline tax, another $1B refund, property tax rebate and more,” adding that Abrams’ plan is “abortion with no limits.”

The Daily Signal reached out to Abrams’ campaign office for comment but was not able to get a response.
