ep Fake Political Ad // John Hinderaker

I doubt that most political ads make much of an impact. Minnesota Democrats have spent millions of dollars on TV ads to tell voters that their Republican opponents are prolife. Although I agree with your point, I doubt that many votes have switched, even though some Democrat partisans may be motivated. The majority of ads are negative, which suggests that the opposing candidate may be Satan. If they pay any attention, I believe most people ignore negative ads by 99 percent.

The deep fake ad is a new development. A spoof ad that looks just like your opponent and confesses that no one should vote for him. This ad is against Jared Polis, Colorado’s Governor. It’s not deceptive. The ad clearly states that it’s not Polis speaking. The resemblance is striking:

What do you think? Is it effective? What about cricket? What would you think if you saw an ad that was a deep fake of a politician? Is it important what the fake politician says? Is it relevant that the fake candidate cites actual statistics instead of repeating the Russia collusion hoax?

Let us know what you think in the comments. I’m not sure what my thoughts are, for what it’s worth. This ad is clever, but not deceptive. It even takes on a Democrat. However, I can see how the technology could be used in ways that I would strongly object.
