ter Bans Conservatives, including Heritage Foundation Expert, One Week before Midterm Elections //

Twitter suspended conservative accounts a week before the midterm elections. This included the account of a Heritage Foundation scholar as well as the leader of a conservative non-profit.

Jake Denton, a research associate with Heritage’s Tech Policy Center was suspended from Twitter at 11:10 pm on Saturday, October 29, 10 days before midterm elections in 2022.

Denton stated to The Daily Signal that Twitter had aggressively targeted and deplatformed young conservatives since Donald Trump’s election. “It is no coincidence, that just one week after Election Day, the leftists on Twitter executed one the largest conservative ban waves in the history the platform’s media outlet, The Daily Signal.”

Denton said, “In the middle the night, Twitter removed conservative politicians and ordinary Americans across America to further silence conservative voices.” “Twitter’s targeting conservative users so close to Election Day is a deliberate and political action. Mass bannings of conservatives on Twitter have become a common practice. Elon Musk must immediately stop this.

Denton was notified by email that his account had been suspended because he violated the Twitter Rules. Twitter also stated that it has its “rules to prevent ban evasion” and that you cannot circumvent a Twitter suspension or enforcement action or anti-spam challenge. This behavior was intended to evade any Twitter remediation such as creating a new or repurposing an existing account.

Twitter stated, “Note: If you try to evade permanent suspension by creating new account(s), we will suspend your accounts.”

According to Denton, he was not banned previously and appealed the suspension decision. Denton has not heard from Twitter since.

His account was also suspended by Vince Dao (editor-in-chief of the conservative organization American Virtue). According to him, he received an email notification on Friday at 10:36 a.m.

Dao said that he believes it’s the last of the remaining hold-outs from the former Twitter regime. “I think they are angry, I believe they’re trying out to go out with an emo. It’s not going well, I believe we’ll be back very soon.”

American Virtue is described by him as “an America First conservative nonprofit that uses in-person events and digital media to spread the values the authentic conservative movement.”

Elon Musk purchased Twitter on Friday. The new boss had already fired several Twitter executives including the woman who was allegedly responsible for President Donald Trump’s permanent ban.

Musk retook Parag Agrawal as chief executive officer, chief financial officer Ned Segal was promoted to chief legal and policy officer Vijaya Gadde and Sean Edgett was named general counsel by The Wall Street Journal.

Musk spoke out about his philosophy for Twitter in a message to advertisers last Wednesday.

Musk tweeted that Musk believed it was important for the future of civilization to have a “common digital town square”, where diverse beliefs could be discussed in a healthy way without resorting to violence.

Conservatives have raised concerns over Big Tech bias, especially at Twitter, which has an open policy against “misgendering and dead-naming” transgender people. A New York Post article about Hunter Biden’s laptop was infamously suppressed by Facebook and Twitter before the 2020 election. Jack Dorsey, then-Twitter CEO, later admitted it was a “total error,” but a Media Research Center poll indicated that the suppression of this story may have been the difference in Joe Biden winning.

Gonzalez v. Google will be heard by the Supreme Court. This case is focused on Google’s algorithmic recommendations. Both Florida and Texas indicated that they want the court review their laws to stop social media content censorship. This is a violation the First Amendment.

Twitter did not immediately respond when The Daily Signal asked for comment.
