ABC’s Donna Brazile: Jim Crow 2.0 is Georgia’s Record Voter Turnout

This Week on ABC dedicated Sunday’s entire episode to the upcoming midterm elections, where Republicans hope to retake Congress and stop Biden’s radical and inflationary agenda. During the “PowerHouse Roundtable”, Marc Short, former chief of staff to Vice-President Mike Pence, and Donna Brazile, former chair of the Democrat National Committee, debated whether Georgia’s new voter integrity legislation, which has facilitated record voter turnout, is “Jim Crow 2.0.”

Joe Biden said that the Georgia election reforms are Jim Crow 2.0. “You have record numbers of Georgians voting early, record number African Americans voting early, and yet the Democrats are saying that it’s Jim Crow 2.0.” Short began by asking.

Brazile is unable to distinguish fact from fiction. She insists that it is Jim Crow.

Short was understandably puzzled by Brazile’s insistence that record voter turnout was “Jim Crow 2.0”.

Brazile referred to the voter integrity law and said “SB202 as you know allowed anyone to challenge validity of a voter.” Brazile also stated that “there are many African Americans, others, young people especially, who are going to vote and they’re being tested.”

Then, she switched topics and boldly claimed that Democrats would once again “surprise the pundits, surprise status quo, and they will succeed.”

Jumping back in, Short reiterated the point and noted that “record numbers” of African Americans were present in Georgia right now. I don’t know how this is Jim Crow 2.0.

Short predicted then that “this cycle would be a referendum upon Joe Biden and it is why Republicans will win.”

MARC SHORT – This is something Joe Biden said in this election cycle that the Georgia election reforms are Jim Crow 2.0. Record numbers of Georgians are voting early, and record numbers of African Americans are voting early. Yet, the Democrats claim it’s Jim Crow 2.0.

DONNA BRAZILE : It is. It is. It is Jim Crow–

SHORT: What’s the deal?

BRAZILE – It’s Jim Crow! As you know, SB 202 allowed anyone to challenge the validity or legitimacy of a voter. Many African Americans, and other young people, are going to vote. They’re being challenged. Here’s what we should do in 2022. We know that the electoral headwinds have changed a bit and maybe shifted towards the issues that Republicans care about.

JON KARL: Crime and inflation, gas prices, and the economy.

BRAZILE Here’s my belief: I believe that Democrats will once again surprise the pundits and surprise the status quo. They will do well. Early voting is looking promising not only in Arizona, but across the country. Democrats also have ideas that they would challenge these election deniers.

More than half of those running for the Republican side are election denier. They also showed up at the United States Capitol to see over 140 people and cops get hurt. This election is a referendum about the future and which party will promise protection, defense and guarantee that every American has freedom, prosperity, and democracy.

SHORT: Georgia is witnessing record African Americans turn out, and I don’t know what that means for Jim Crow 2.0. This election cycle will be a referendum about Joe Biden, and that’s why Republicans will win.
