It’s clear that 60 Minutes will end its show with a partisan spin as the midterm elections approach. This is called “Bias By Story Selection.” The former CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley spent the first 19 minutes of Sunday’s show blaming Trump’s “election deniers” in Arizona for destroying the Republican Party. Let’s begin at the end.
SCOTT PELLEY (voiceover). Nationwide, 190 election denier candidates are running for the U.S. House, and 14 for U.S. Senate according to the Brookings Institution. Rusty Bowers and Mark Brnovich both lost their primary to denier candidates, which may be a relief.
RUSTY BOWERS – Don’t leave.
MAN #3: It’s time to resign, buddy.
BOWERS: Do not come over.
PELLEY: After Trump’s victory, conspiracy spinners and Trump supporters set fire to Bowers’ house up to three times per week.
MAN #4: Rusty Bowers, a pedophile.
WOMAN #1: You go home.
PELLEY: He had no choice but to defend them — a man with pistol — demonstrators in an armored car.
They arrived at the State Capitol on January 6, 2021 with rifles and a pistol. This is what filled the void in Arizona when belief in the right to vote was eroded.
PELLEY (on camera:) Has the Republican Party you’ve known all of your life been taken over?
BOWERS: The hijackers are a large group of people. It’s not a majority, I think. How they’ve acted in this state is a major factor in reducing its effectiveness as a party, and its legitimacy in public discourse.
Let’s just say that CBS is correct in claiming that Biden won Arizona. Trump supporters have not proven the contrary. Some of them can be very mean. Pelley and CBS want viewers to believe that the entire Republican Party is no longer effective and legitimate. All Republicans should be treated with the same brush.
Let’s go back to October 2020. What was 60 Minutes doing at that moment? Why, Norah O’Donnell was tossing Joe Biden softballs. “Do you believe that the recent leakage of material allegedly from Hunter’s computer is part a Russian disinformation campaign?”
What does it look like now, after liberal newspapers verified Hunter Biden’s laptop contents, proving that Biden was in fact fraternizing with Hunter’s clients
PS: 60 Minutes dedicated a segment in 2000 to author J.H. Hatfield and his book Fortunate Son, which he wrote about George W. Bush’s denigration. They gave this interview despite Hatfield not being able to prove Bush was arrested in cocaine possession and Hatfield paying for a hitman.
