GOOD RIDDANCE: CNBC Names Twitter CEO ParagAgrawal Out Following Musk’s Takeover

Parag Agrawal, Twitter CEO, is reportedly out as the platform’s head after the completion of his $44 billion acquisition. This was following a difficult negotiation process.

CNBC reported that Agrawal, and Twitter Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, “left the company’s San Francisco headquarters after Musk took over as the new owner” and “will not be returning.” Musk shared with Twitter’s advertisers his statement that his free speech vision for Twitter is for it to become a “common online town square”. This contrasts sharply with Agrawal’s dystopian, antifree speech nightmare. Agrawal stated that the company’s role was to determine “who can be heard” and “not to be bound to the First Amendment.”

Musk uploaded a video Oct. 26 showing him holding a sink and walking into Twitter headquarters. The caption read: “[Let that sink in!]”

Musk recently changed his Twitter bio to “Chief Twit.”

Musk stated in his statement to Twitter advertisers, that he didn’t buy Twitter because it would be easy or because it was a money-maker. “I did it to help humanity, whom i love. I do it with humility, knowing that failure in pursuing this goal is possible despite our best efforts.

Musk attacked the platform for its censorship-heavy environment on March 26: “Given Twitter serves as de facto the public square, failing to adhere free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracies.”

Twitter is the de facto central square of democracy. It is therefore essential that we adhere to free speech principles.
