The diversity problem in the NHL is a problem. People who are unable to ice skate are not welcome in the NHL. That’s not the problem. This wouldn’t be nearly so stupid as the actual “problem”.
According to the AP the league discovered to its horror that most of its staff are white. Yep. Yes. 84% of NHL employees suffer melanin deprivation compared to 4% Asians and 4% black. (God bless those 2.48% who chose not to answer. 62% of them are also dudes. Hockey has too many people called “Gordo”, but the AP didn’t mention it.
This is obviously something that needs to be fixed. Kim Davis, the NHL’s executive Vice President of Social Impact, Growth and Legislative Affairs, is the perfect diversity drone to fix it. The shocking results of the survey were announced by Kim Davis. She said that the data provided a baseline from which to begin to develop specific strategies about where, how, and how to improve your brand.
The NHL’s first ever internal demographic study revealed that its workforce was overwhelmingly white.

Reduce the influence of white men and improve your brand. Check.
It is a cynical corporate scam and not an attempt to ban self-sorting and free association. Although the effect is the same, everyone understands the profit motive.
