MRC’s Brent Bozell Highlights Google Search’s Pro-Democratic Election Bias

Brent Bozell, President of Media Research Center, called Tuesday for more Big Tech accountability on Fox News’s America Reports. He highlighted MRC Free Speech America’s groundbreaking study on political search bias in Google.

Bozell stated that Big Tech companies manipulate data because they have political agendas. It’s as clear as the day.

John Roberts, host, pointed out a key finding from the MRC report: “[MRC’s] analysis of 12 races shows that Republican sites in ten of these twelve races resulted significantly fewer search results in Google.”

Bozell explained that the Republicans were pushed to page 2 in seven of 12 Senate races that MRC analyzed.

Bozell pointed out that Google controls 92.4 per cent of internet searches around the world, but less than 1 percent click beyond the first page. This means that the majority of people who use Google to search the same Republican candidates as MRC’s research won’t find their campaign websites.

Bozell stated that “if you are somebody searching for Republican, that person doesn’t exist” because Google suppresses them. “The Republican candidate is a nonperson for all intents and purposes.”

The following methodology was used by MRC to study its Senate study: “[Candidate’s name] Senate Race 2022.”

Roberts pointed out that even though Roberts and his associates did more basic Google searches containing only the state, the Republican candidate’s last name and year appeared in search results. However, the Republican did not appear in those results.

Roberts stated that it is not just the way [MRC] searches that causes skewed search results.

Bozell stated that the Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit against Google Friday for sending nearly all GOP political fundraising emails at the end of the month to Gmail spam boxes.

Bozell stated that Google has been a target of Republicans since 2016, and against Donald Trump. It’s been proven repeatedly. They have a liability coverage. It must be addressed.

Bozell pointed out that, in addition Google, Twitter, and Facebook are biased towards conservatives. He cited their censorship in the Hunter Biden laptop story 2 1/2 weeks before 2020 presidential election.

According to a MRC poll, 9.4 percent of Joe Biden’s voters would be disowned if Big Tech had allowed more people to learn about the Hunter Biden story.

Bozell stated that Donald Trump would have won every swing state in America and would’ve won 311 electoral vote – a landslide victory – if they had only allowed the truth. “That’s all.”

JOHN ROBERTS – The Media Research Center claims that Google manipulates search engine results to harm Republicans in crucial Senate races. According to the conservative group, its analysis of 12 races showed that 10 Republican websites resulted significantly in fewer search results on Google. Let’s introduce Brent Bozell. He is the founder and president at the Media Research Center. Brent, what did you find in your investigation?

BRENT BOZELL: This is a look at the top 12 races on RealClearPolitics. This is a good example. Google controls 92.4% worldwide search volumes. Consider also the fact that less then 1% of people search beyond the first page. In seven of the twelve cases, the Republicans were pushed to page 2, so that if someone searches for that Republican, they don’t exist. The Republican candidate is, for all intents and purposes a non-person. It was Google who intentionally, that deliberately placed them on page 2.

ROBERTS: We asked Google for this information and Google suggested that it was the way you searched. You searched for more than a name. You searched Adam Laxalt and Senate in Arizona, 2022. Here’s what Google reported. This report is intended to mislead by testing unusual search terms that people rarely use. Anyone can search for candidate names on Google and see their campaign websites at the top of the results. All candidates appear in the top three results, and are often the first in Google search results. We tried it ourselves. We searched for the name and the campaign websites for Democrats and Republicans in the 12 races came up. We then did a more detailed search, which is how I search Google. I searched for Laxalt, Arizona 2022. In five cases, the Democrat came up with the campaign website. The Republican did not.

BOZELL: That’s right.

ROBERTS: It is not just how you search.

BOZELL: We see everything apples to apples, so it’s fair. Their answer this afternoon is better than the one they gave on Fox & Friends this morning. They said that they hadn’t seen the study, but that it was incorrect. Google was sued by the RNC on Friday for sending all their fundraising appeals to spam. Now they know that their regular appeals, which are their regular messages, are also going into spam. Google has been a target of Donald Trump since 2016. It has been proven repeatedly. They have a protection, a coverage against liability. It must be addressed. These tech companies must be treated in the same way as Fox News and any journalist operation. They are not objective platforms. They are publishers. They have agendas. They manipulate data because they have political agendas. It’s as simple as that.

ROBERTS: We are so close to an election. It doesn’t matter if it’s Google or whether Google is doing anything nefarious. But we also have other social media sites. It’s not surprising that conservatives are ignored in the results. Take a look back at Twitter’s hunter Biden story. They banned the New York post from Twitter because it reported on something that, oh, by way of the way, was true.

BOZELL: We looked at Facebook and saw that they admitted to it. The Justice Department asked them to not give oxygen to Hunter Biden and so Zuckerberg acknowledged they had done it. Here’s the thing. We conducted a survey in all the swing states for Biden voters, and asked them about Hunter Biden. 5.4%, 54%, of Biden’s voters hadn’t heard of Hunter Biden. We asked them if they had known about Hunter Biden. 9.5% said no. Donald Trump would have won every swing state in America and would’ve won 311 electoral vote – a landslide victory – if only they would have admitted the truth. That’s all.

ROBERTS: Tomorrow, you’ll be reporting on House races in search.

BOZELL: We have another surprise for Google. This one might be denied by Google, too.
