MSNBC’s O’Donnell compares John Fetterman with FDR & Winston Churchill

On Wednesday night’s MSNBC’s The Last Word, Lawrence O’Donnell, host, went into damage control mode after Tuesday’s Pennsylvania Senate debate. John Fetterman, the Democratic candidate, proved to everyone that he is now incapacitated following a stroke last spring and is therefore unqualified to serve as a United States Senator. O’Donnell used Fetterman’s illness in the opening monologue of his show to make comparisons to former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

“Franklin Roosevelt was able to serve as the highest elected official in their countries long before television could cover their every move and before Twitter could have people reacting to their public appearances in real time,” O’Donnell mumbled in an apparent effort to justify the fact that Fetterman cannot put together a coherent sentence.

“Franklin Delano Roosevelt believed it would be painful for him to be lifted in and out a car by Secret Service agents. He never allowed cameras to capture this. O’Donnell said that elaborate steps were taken to determine when his train would arrive or leave so that he could be transferred from car to train without anyone being able to see and without anyone feeling that it was painful to view.”

O’Donnell later informed his audience that “painful” was “an often-repeated phrase last night on Twitter during the Pennsylvania Senate campaign battle because Democratic candidate John Fetterman suffered a stroke in spring and has not fully recovered his verbal fluency.”

O’Donnell hopes that Fetterman will be as capable of fulfilling his duties as Senator as FDR or Churchill were during World War II.

FDR was paralysed by Polio and unable walk. However, this didn’t impact his ability to speak or make critical decisions. Fetterman, however, is clearly mentally incapacitated.

O’Donnell is so desperate to get his party control of the United States Senate, he’ll lie to his audience.

Liberty Mutual made this dishonest segment possible. Their information is linked.

LAWRENCE O’DONNELL: Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill were the highest elected officials of their countries long before television could cover every move and Twitter could allow people to react to their public appearances instantly. He believed it would be painful to see him being lifted into and out of a car by Secret Service agents. That is why he never allowed cameras to record that. To ensure that he could be transferred from his car to the train without anyone seeing or imagining, elaborate steps were taken. Children grew up in America during FDR’s presidency, not knowing that the President couldn’t walk.

Caroline Morale was an 11 year old girl growing up in Washington D.C., when her father, a lawyer who had connections to the Roosevelt administration, took her to a reception at The White House. There, President Roosevelt was wheeled into the east room in a wheelchair, and there were no cameras. Caroline Morales’s eyes widened. She pulled her father’s shirt and looked up. Then she whispered, “I won’t tell anyone!”

She felt like she was in the presence a secret about President’s condition. She felt the same way as many Americans and the press corps back then. Respect for the President’s health should be respected. Caroline Morales, 11 years old, did not believe that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was so painful to watch in her one chance moment.

Because John Fetterman, the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania’s Senate election, suffered a stroke in spring and has not fully recovered his verbal fluency, it quickly became “painful to watch” on Twitter.
