Rewind to 2020. It’s the height and peak of the Covid panic. You can’t visit Grandma at the nursing home or go to a bar. However, George Floyd rioters will torch convenience stores and loot Targets. Lefty media, politicians, and some politicized medical organizations say it’s better for them to protest injustices than to follow lockdown and social distancing guidelines.
Who did not get the same respect? Pro-lifers.
In Greensboro, North Carolina, a number of Love Life supporters were arrested in spring 2020. A lawsuit settlement recently revealed that the protestors were not allowed to use the First Amendment free speech rights.
The Carolina Journal reported that pro-lifers visited an abortiful facility to offer sidewalk counseling and pray. They were undoubtedly practicing social ditancing, which is what everyone believed to be the case when they were outside. However, they were arrested under COVID-19 precaution.
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed a lawsuit on behalf of the protestors. Love Life “ensured that fewer than 10 people were present in [the] group at any given time, that they were at least six feet apart and that they were equipped as required by the social ditancing provisions”
There was less concern about Coronavirus spreading outside of the abortion facility than at Walmart. They were nevertheless arrested.
ADF helped Greensboro admit that protestors were segregated on the grounds of exercising constitutionally protected First Amendment rights. The city also agreed to pay $15,000 towards the attorneys’ fees.
It is reasonable to assume that protestors were only “in danger” because they were prolifers. I’m sure that authorities and their powers would not have blinkered if they were prolifers outside of a pregnancy resource centre.
Denise Harle, senior counsel at ADF, pointed out the double standard and undeniable bias that were used against pro-life protestors.
Officials in Greensboro stated that praying while walking is against the law because of COVID-19. Harle stated that this case was not about public safety and health. It was about the government censoring people’s speech because they didn’t like it.” “That being said, we applaud the city for finally recognizing the Love Life members’ free speech rights and allowing them to pray and speak in public, just like any other citizen.
This story was told earlier in the chaotic political landscape of our country today. However, the bias against prolifers is still a prevalent issue.
The Daily Signal recently pointed out that the FBI has biasedly targeted many pro-life protestors, raiding their homes, arresting them, and have done nothing to reprimand this crime against churches or pregnancy centers that are prolife.
It is a shame that people have such a negative bias against those who really want unborn babies to be valued and to have the right to live. But, that’s what leftist America wants.
