Paul Krugman Claims that ‘Gas Prices’ Could ‘Doom Democracy’ By Throwing Election to GOP

Paul Krugman, an economic columnist for the Elitist New York Times, feared that high gas prices could hurt Democratic Party chances in the midterms. These elections are just 15 days away. Krugman: So much for Americans struggling just to make ends work, as long as the right party is in power.

Krugman, in an Oct. 20 opinion piece, asked: “Will the price for gasoline — which has very little to do about which party controls it — still determine the outcome of midterm elections and quite possibly the fate American democracy,” It’s not a silly question. There has been a strong correlation this year between gasoline prices and political polls.

Krugman even claimed that “gas isn’t expensive compared to the fairly recent past”. According to a recent Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation rate report, gas prices have risen 18.2 percent since Sept. 2021. [Emphasis added].

Krugman, an economist who won the Nobel Prize for Economics, may not find this news important, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Krugman has a net worth $5 million.

Krugman doubled his efforts to harass Americans about gas prices. Krugman said, “Yet gas price may sway crucial election, which is both ludicrous as terrifying.” [Emphasis added].

Krugman will use every platform to make fun of American families who are worried about gas prices. To his more than 4 million followers, he tweeted that the “whole “under Trump gas was $2!” thing was based on voter ignorance. Gas prices in 2017 when Donald Trump was president averaged $2.41, $2.71 in 2018, and $2.60 in 2019. Data from the Energy Information Administration shows that they averaged $2.16 in 2020.

Gas was further depressed in 2020, as the entire world economy was still ravaged by Covid. The whole “under Trump gas” was $2! It all depends on voter ignorance 8/

During the Trump years, that averages out to $2.47 per gallon of gasoline. Krugman: Does this sound like voter ignorance? The economist took aim at Trump and argued that “gas prices were unusually high” during Trump’s last year in office “not because he did anything,” but because COVID-19 “greatly reduced” oil demand around the world.

Krugman continued to defend President Joe Biden’s cronies in White House over gas prices, despite the fact that millions of Americans are suffering from 40-year highs of inflation. “Overall, however it’s difficult to imagine a worse metric to judge a president or his party than a price that is primarily determined by events abroad and technical production problems here at home.

Krugman also cited a Washington Post poll that showed that Biden’s approval was closely tied with gas prices as evidence of “American democracy” being in danger.

Shocker.

Conservatives are being attacked. Contact The New York Times at 800-698-43737 to demand that Krugman nonsense is stopped. This harangues Americans for worrying about high gas prices as they vote.
