PolitiFact Displays a Craptastic Double Standard for Abortion Positions in Wisconsin

PolitiFact highlighted how partisan it is on abortion and its extremes. Democrats can claim Republicans are extreme in opposing incest exceptions and rape, but Republicans cannot say Democrats are extreme for wanting no restrictions on abortion.

Are they interested in facts? Are they interested in facts? Or are they just trying to get Republicans’ social-media messages canceled in the final stages of an election cycle?

They gave Wisconsin Gov. Under this headline, Tony Evers received a “Mostly True” rating

If a 12-year old girl becomes pregnant due to rape or incest,” “Tim Michels” would force her into giving birth.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee received a “Mostly False” ruling from the same “independent fact-checkers” on Thursday under this headline

“Mandela Barnes voted in favor of abortion right up to the moment of birth.”

This claim was made by the NRSC in a press release on October 6. Vanessa Swales said that the GOP was wrong because Barnes had been a dodgy speaker, talking only about a woman’s right to choose without government intervention. It’s strange that Democrats get truth points for mumbled answers.

PolitiFact attempted to claim, once again, that “codifying Roe” doesn’t allow for abortion without limits. NARAL Pro-Choice America endorsed Barnes and said he supports the “Women’s Health Protection Act.” These people need to absorb that bill’s no-limits text.

It is the purpose and intent of this Act.

(1) To allow health care providers to offer abortion services without restrictions or requirements that exclude the provision of abortion services.

It then includes a long list containing abortion restrictions it would overturn in any state or federal law. It eliminates any Roe “viability” limitations.

We pointed this out two weeks ago when Madeleine Heim, PolitiFact Wisconsin analyst, threw a “Pants On Fire” flag at the conservative Restoration PAC. Heim was accusing Barnes of favoring abortion until birth by conflating it with the term “preemies.”

It’s the same Madeleine Heim who gives Wisconsin’s Democrat governor a free pass. She suggests that Tim Michels, an evil man who would force a 12-year old to give birth, is now the same Madeleine Heim. PolitiFact personnel do not suggest that a child’s sexual predator is the villain in this scenario, unlike most Democrats.

This inflammatory Evers ad is a “Mostly True”.

Evers’ television ad stated that Michels would force a 12-year old girl to have a baby if she becomes pregnant due to rape or incest.

Michels has long opposed the inclusion of exceptions for rape or incest to Wisconsin’s abortion ban. However, he recently stated that he would sign a bill adding them. However, this scenario seems unlikely and his campaign has stated that his personal beliefs on the matter remain the same.

This claim is Mostly True according to us.

PolitiFact is a broker that is honest, especially on abortion issues. But they don’t pay attention to their double standards.
