Remember when parents could trust the school’s performance? Or when teachers were expected teach — you know, academics.
Those days are long gone. Nelli Parisenkova, a Christian teacher from California, filed a lawsuit against Bright Horizons Children’s Center last week. She claimed she was fired by the school for refusing to read LGBT-themed books to students.
Bright Horizons Children’s Center, Studio City, California is for children five years old and under. Bright Horizons is proud to have these almost toddler-aged children as part of its “commitment towards diversity, equity and inclusion.”
It’s not surprising that the school encourages LGBTQ children to read.
Parisenkova was allegedly aware that Bright Horizons had LGBT children’s books in their classroom, but she was reportedly told she wasn’t required because of her “religious objections.” Fox News reported that Parisenkova was informed. After four years of service, there were no reported problems. However, Katy Callas became aware of the issue and made changes.
According to the lawsuit, Callas denied Parisenkova’s request around April 7, 2022. Callas, a lesbian, “took personal offense to Ms. Parisenkova’s religious beliefs,” “questioned her in an irate fashion,” and practically forced Paeisenkova out by saying that Bright Horizons would not be the right job for them if she didn’t want to “celebrate Diversity”.
As stated in the lawsuit:
Bright Horizons issued a counseling note with false statements, terminated her life insurance benefits, required her to complete diversity retraining, and encouraged her resignation. Bright Horizons terminated the employment of Ms. Parisenkova because she could not return to work without accommodation.
Parisenkova sued, calling the situation “harassment” & “discrimination” against Parisenkova, as well as the treatment as “despicable.”
Parisenkova was brave enough to stand firm to her religious beliefs, but she shouldn’t have to. According to the lawsuit, Parisenkova was responsible for children aged 1-5 years old and was expected read books that supported the LGBTQ agenda to them. This is absolutely unacceptable.
It is amazing to see the lengths parents and teachers will go to to protect their children and themselves from leftist talking points. In 2021, Laura Morris, a Loudoun County teacher, resigned after she was told she had to teach Critical Race Theory. Parents across the country have protested against schools that promote queer ideology to their children. Governors had to pass bills to protect children from the spread of LGBTQ content and rhetoric in classes.
It is a disturbing fact to see what the media promotes, and how schools can be used as a platform for leftists to push their agenda. It wouldn’t surprise me if stories like Ms. Parisenkova started appearing more often.
