Alvin Kamara’s alleged beating at Las Vegas hotel victim Darnell Greene Jr. last winter has been revealed. These details are quite disturbing. Darnell Greene Jr. is the alleged victim of a vicious beating by Kamara. He is suing the Saints for $10 million, claiming that the all-pro boasted of the brutality of the attack.
Greene tried to enter an elevator in a hotel when Kamara and others beat him down. Kamara was taken into custody on felony battery charges, and released on bail. Mike Florio, NBC Pro Football Talk reporter, said Kamara could be subject to a baseline suspension for six games under the Personal Conduct Policy if he is found guilty of assault. Kamara will be unable to avoid civil and criminal liability for the situation due to the existence of photos and videos from the incident.
Kamara had repeatedly punched Greene, temporarily rendering him unconscious. Kamara continued to punch Greene, while the alleged victim lay unconscious on the floor at the Cromwell hotel. Greene was also allegedly stomped on by friends of the football player.
Greene also claims Kamara brags to his friends that he “connected the [EXPLETIVE] jaw so hard.” Another friend said Kamara’s punches “sounded just like the [EXPLETIVE] got hit by a baseball bat.”
The plaintiff in the lawsuit claims that the attack was unprovoked. He also has hotel video to prove his charges. Greene is asking for $5 million in compensatory damages, and $5 million to be awarded as punitive damages for assault and battery.
Kamara has been playing poorly and with a rib injury for New Orleans this season, while his legal team requests hearing delays.
Kamara’s prospects on the field are not looking good. According to Las Vegas police reports, he admitted punching the victim. Greene’s lawyer is also familiar with the process of going after NFL players accused for abhorrent behavior. Tony Buzbee represented 23 women who accused Deshaun Watson, Cleveland quarterback, of sexual misconduct.
Let’s just say this. Alvin Kamara is almost certain to not be in the running to win the Walter Payton NFL Man of the year award. This award is given annually to the player who has demonstrated outstanding community service and excellence on the field.
