Soros Gives $32 Million More to 28 Coalition Groups Calling for Censorship before the Midterms

Another group, funded by millions of dollars from George Soros, liberal billionaire, is joining the chorus demanding that Big Tech unleash a censorship Armageddon to stop election “disinformation.”

The Washington Post raised the Orwellian demands made by at least 58 groups in the Change the Terms Coalition. According to The Post, the coalition screamed at Meta, Twitter TikTok, YouTube and YouTube for not being “just as ill-prepared” to combat disinformation from politicians and other public figures whose public statements about the 2022 midterms could damage Americans’ faith in the electoral process, or lead to violence.

The coalition created the #FixTheFeed Campaign to “call on Facebook, Instagram TikTok Twitter and YouTube to cease amplifying the worst content.” According to an MRC Business analysis, at least 28 of those who signed up to be part of this coalition were heavily financed in part by Soros, which totalled $32,250,584 between 2016-2020.

Six of the seven groups that led the Change the Terms coalition policies received $13,150,000 from Soros. They were: Center for American Progress (Color of Change), Free Press, Muslim Advocates and National Hispanic Media Coalition.

A report was released by the Soros-funded Free Press on behalf of Change the Terms. It compared the coalition’s demands with Big Tech’s current policies against curbing “disinformation” during elections. The Post stated that the report challenged whether tech platforms are living up to their promises to fight disinformation before the vote.

The title of the document, “Empty Promises,” reads like a Ministry of Truth nightmare from George Orwell’s 1984.

Election misinformation and disinformation do not occur randomly or over a long period of time. Online lies, especially the kind of election-denialism rhetoric that exploded in 2020, have been commonplace for years and there is no end to this crisis. It is wrong to treat ‘election-related disinformation’ in particular as a temporary phenomenon. It is present all year and shapes beliefs and opinions that lead harassment of election officials and violence.

Free Press is the same group that was once torn apart by Brendan Carr, Federal Communications Commission commissioner, for including a hate-filled comment in its leftist pet for the agency’s investigation into its “historyof racism.” The comment asked whether Republicans should be shot to “reclaim our democracy.” Following the backlash, Free Press issued a statement acknowledging that “some violent and inappropriate language” was included in its petition’s comments. After Carr’s denial, the group reportedly “withdrew” the petition.

The racist-charged Change the Terms leader Color of Change was also behind a 2020 Marxist effort by the government to defund police foundations. The group claims to be the “nation’s largest online racial injustice organization.” The PAC for Color of Change was also behind an anti-police initiative called “Cut Ties With The (Fraternal Order of Police]”. FOP is self-described “the voice of the nation’s law enforcement officer.” Color of Change PAC stated that the Order was “the most dangerous frat in the world.” Center for American Progress was also founded by John Podesta, a scandal-plagued former Hillary Clinton Campaign Chairman.

Another Soros-funded group was the Southern Poverty Law Center, an extremist group known for its “hatemap” that denigrates conservative and faith-based groups as hate groups. It also helped to draft Change the Terms’ policies.

This is not the only censorship campaign Soros-funded groups are involved in. The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, funded by Soros, was the leader of an open letter that was signed by 11 other liberal groups on Oct. 13. It called for Big Tech companies “[t]ake immediate measures to curb the spreadof voting disinformation in future elections and to help preserve our democracy.” LCCHR was funded by Soros, along with six of the 12 signatories. They received $30,325,500 between 2016 and 2019.

One thing is certain: Soros-funded groups want to ensure that free speech does not influence the outcome of the 2022 midterm election.
