The Race-Obsessed L.A. City Council

A leaked tape shows that three members of the all-Democrat Los Angeles City Council (plus one independent) used racist, homophobic and anti-white slurs, as well as a labor leader — all Latino – to plot to redistrict the city council in an effort to increase “Latino power.”

LA is home to approximately 50% Latinos, but Latinos hold “just” 30% the 15 council seats. This is a problem for the party of diversity and inclusion. Worse, 20% of the council seats are held by blacks, even though they make up less than 10% of the total population. These three black council members are elected to represent districts that are majority Latino or where they make the largest minority. How dare Latino voters vote black politicians!

The parade of invectives was led by Nury Martinez, the since-resigned City Council president. Nury Martinez is a daughter of Mexican immigrants. Her rise to city politics was made possible by a mentor politician of black color. Martinez, who has called President Donald Trump “racist”, and the others directed most of their wrath at Mike Bonin, a white councilmember with an adopted black child.

Martinez said Bonin “thinks that he’s black” and they accused him of using his black child to “accessory.” Martinez also said Bonin called Martinez “a little bitch” and referred to Bonin as a neighboring Orange County. De Leon said that Latinos should not be afraid of “those crazies” in Orange County who support Trump. It’s the white liberals. It’s the L.A. Times.

The Los Angeles City Controller was another white man who was attacked, as were his white colleagues on council. Martinez stated, “You need go talk to that white man (the city controller). It’s not us. It’s the white members of this council who will mother—you in a heartbeat.”

Martinez also criticized George Gascon, Los Angeles District Attorney, but not for his soft on crime policies, which many blame for the rise in violent crimes. Martinez said that Gascon was “F—ing that guy” about Martinez. Martinez said that Gascon’s policies which allowed bad guys to continue on the streets killing and shooting blacks disproportionately, was being “with the Blacks.”

Martinez stated that he sees a lot of short, dark people in Los Angeles’ Koreatown when he was asked if immigrants from Oaxaca (Mexico) were included. … I was like, “I don’t know where these people came from, I don’t know which village they came from, how they got here.” They’re ugly.”

Ron Herrera, the President of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, publicly supports black candidates for council. However, the tape states, “My goal is to get the three of us elected.” We’re just like the little Latino caucus that we have.” If this means that black political power is diminished, then so be it.

The four men did not speak for an hour about the city’s high levels of crime and homelessness. They did not mention the city’s declining population or its poor urban K-12 government schools. This is partly due to a lack of housing affordability for working and middle class people. This raises some questions about the liberals’ desire to increase “Latino Power.” What is the left-wing Latino view on homelessness? Does it differ from the left-wing non Latinos on the City Council’s City Council? What is the left-wing Latino view on reverseing population loss? What is the Latino position regarding crime, which 77% of city residents are concerned about? What is the Latino position relative to their non-Latino liberal counterparts on crime? Why are California’s government schools scoring lower than other states?

Martinez and Herrera have resigned. However, Gil Cedillo, de Leon and de Leon, who were also council members, were stripped of their committee assignments, but they resisted calls to resign. Cedillo lost his reelection bid and his term ends December. It’s difficult to pin this on “white superiority.” Was it the LA City Council?
