The View Deplores Twitter Free Speech and Demands Feds CRACKDOWN

The View’s cackling group was outraged that Elon Musk, a billionaire, would allow free speech on Twitter. They described Twitter’s future a “hellscape” or a “rage room” that was made up of “really hatredful and awful” people who need professional therapy. They demanded that the Federal Communications Commission crack down on Twitter.

“I believe it’s going be a free for all hellscape, and i imagine that Trump will come back to unleash his vitriol. Sunny Hostin, a racist, stated that others who have been banned will be able to unleash their vitriol. “I am always conflicted over the issue of freedom speech, which doesn’t even apply here because it doesn’t apply because he’s a private owner.”

While acknowledging the importance of free speech she also noted that “you want the most hateful speech to be protected.” Protecting free speech means going to extremes. If you don’t protect the most hateful speech you don’t really protect any speech.

According to her, Twitter’s real problem was its users. “Why is it a hellscape? That’s what we need to ask ourselves. She groaned that it was a hellscape because of the people who live there and the vitriol they anonymously spew out there.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, a faux conservative co-host, agreed that Twitter is a terrible place because of its users (click “expand”)

FARAH GRAFFIN: This is the problem. Social media has a way to bring out the worst in humanity, and it does. However, people succumb to their worst instincts when they are hidden behind anonymity.

HOSTIN: The dog is behind the cat icon and the Frog.

FARAH GRIFFIN – And the vitriol, and the hatred.

She warned that democracy has never been tested for digital age stress.

Sara Haines, co-host of The Co-Host, ripped into Twitter users and asked how they could “go to bed at night having spoken some of the things that they’ve said.”

Let’s be real. They are referring to the users when they criticize them. They hate being held responsible.

Ana Navarro, a co-faux conservative, demanded that the feds crackdown on the site. “This is not a free speech discussion because [Musk] doesn’t need to respect freedom of speech. She declared that the First Amendment does not apply to her. “I believe government regulation is behind this curve because you look at the audiences, viewers, and audiences that TV networks have.”

Adding: “This is no regulation and they frankly reach far more viewers, eyeballs that networks or newspapers or any other news outlet nowadays.

Joy Behar began to curse conservatives for supposedly controlling every social media site in existence, after suggesting that Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder, was somehow right-wing and complaining about how others on the right (and some that aren’t) had started their own social networks. “So, these Republican quit BITCHING about cancelling culture! They’re the victims! You have everything!” She screamed.

Red Lobster and Oreo sponsored this opposition to free speech on Twitter. Their contact information can be found linked.

JOY BEHAR: Will he do anything to fix it or will it be a free-for-all forever? What do you think?

SUNNY HOSTIN : I believe it’s going be a free for all hellscape, and I imagine Trump will return to unleash his vitriol. Others who were banned will be able to unleash their vitriol. I am always conflicted on the issue of free speech. This doesn’t apply here since he is a private owner.

I learned this in law school.

BEHAR: Describe free speech.

HOSTIN: It’s actually the First Amendment. It’s your freedom to express yourself and —

BEHAR: The government should not censor you.

HOSTIN: Without being censored or controlled by the government.

What I discovered was that you want to protect hateful speech. Protecting free speech means going to extremes. If you don’t protect the most hateful speech you don’t really protect any speech.

There are exceptions, like inciting violence, but most speech is protected. So, even if he talks about making this the public space, it’s fine. But, under the communications act, Twitter and social media are third-party platforms. They are not considered publishers. They are not considered to be the people who put the content out there. They are just a platform.

We really need to ask ourselves why it is a hellscape. It’s a hellscape due to the people who live there and the vitriol they anonymously spew.

ALYSSA FARAH GRAFFIN: This is the problem. Social media has a way to bring out the worst in humanity, and it has — by the way there’s a lot that’s good about social media, but people succumb to their worst instincts when they’re hiding behind anonymity.

HOSTIN: The dog is behind the cat icon and the Frog.

FARAH GRAFFIN: And the vitriole and the hatred. It’s fascinating because democracy has never been tested for digital age stress.

SARA HAINES: Are we not expecting more from ourselves? I question the idea that people can go to sleep at night knowing they have said certain things. You can keep me anonymous and nothing new or ugly will come out. My accountability is to the people I pray to and the people I set an example for my children and my parents. With some of the things that take place there, I wouldn’t sleep well at night.

BEHAR: You have a conscience.

HOSTIN: They are very good at sleeping.

BEHAR: They don’t care.

HAINES: I think it’s disgusting that we ask so many of our leaders, but the people who inhabit Twitter to me it’s an online rage room. People go there to get the therapy they don’t need and they are hateful and horrible. While I recognize that there are some great people, I must say that they are in the minority.

ANA NAVARRO: Listen. This is not a free speech discussion because he doesn’t have to respect free speech. This is not covered by the First Amendment. He is now – He’s now the sole owner of this. He is taking it private. He doesn’t have a board. He doesn’t need to file SEC filings.

Because of the large number of people who are using the internet, I believe government regulation is behind the curve.

BEHAR: Yeah.

HOSTIN: It was.

NAVARRO – and viewers that TV networks have. We were subject to FCC regulation. They have no regulation and they are able to reach far more viewers and eyeballs than any other news outlet, networks, newspapers or any other news outlet.
