Univision deliberately spread disinformation through their report on the Pennsylvania Senate Debate. They falsely claimed that Dr. Mehmet Oz had criticised the state of Lt. Governor’s health. John Fetterman.
WATCH the shocking claim as it was aired on Univision’s Despierta USA as part of a larger report on the previous night’s debates.
EDWIN PITTI – Surprisingly, the polls continue to shift – indicating that no one has clinched victory.
MEHMET OZ – I believe we’re the land for opportunity, the land for plenty
JOHN FETTERMAN – My campaign is about fighting for anyone in Pennsylvania who has ever been knocked down.
PITTI: In Pennsylvania, the first and only debate over the Senate seat devolved into personal attacks. Democrat Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who suffered a stroke five years ago, did not agree to release his medical records.
FETTERMAN: I had an accident. He won’t let me forget that. I might have missed some words today, mixed some words together, but he’ll never let you down. I’m going to keep coming back up.
PITTI: Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Republican candidate, has criticized (Fetterman’s) state-of-health.
The report featured one Oz quote and two Fetterman quotes. Oz stated that “I believe we’re the country of opportunity, the nation of plenty”. Fetterman clearly spoke about himself, stating that “My campaign is all for fighting for anyone in Pennsylvania that has ever been knocked down”.
Notice how Pitti frames the smear. He said, “The first and only Senate seat debate in Pennsylvania devolved into personal attacks after the first set”
The second Fetterman quote was again about his health. Pitti falsely stated that Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Republican candidate, had criticized Fetterman’s state of health. After that, there was a long pause before any effect. The alleged criticism was not included because it did not occur during debate.
