Ryan, who twice voted for unlimited abortion, now states that he is against late-term abortions //

Tim Ryan now claims he is against most late term abortions, despite having voted in favor of and repeatedly praised his support for legislation that allows unlimited abortions.

He said that he didn’t believe abortions should be performed later in the term, unless there is a medical emergency.

When asked where he draws the line, he replied “I think we return to Roe v. Wade” . “Roe V. Wade was in its third term. You could not do it in the third term Roe v. Wade unless there was a medical emergency.

Baier pressed Ryan (D-Ohio) on Roe v. Wade legislation that did not include any restrictions on abortion. Baier asked, “Does it have a limit?”

Ryan replied, “My personal opinion is that we go back to Roe V. Wade.” Ryan did not respond to multiple requests for comment from The Daily Signal.

J.D., Republican candidate Vance’s campaign said that Ryan lies about his record, “once more,” because he is a pro-abortion extremist in Ohio.

Vance’s campaign stated that Ryan voted to make late-term taxpayer-funded abortion legal in every state. “That’s out of touch with Ohioans.”

Ryan, who claims to be focused on Ohio’s working-class family needs, has twice voted in favor of the Women’s Health Protection Act. If passed, this legislation would codify Roe v. Wade as well as vastly expand abortions within the United States.

The Women’s Health Protection Act specifically says that the right of abortion “shall never be limited or otherwise violated.” This would have allowed abortion providers to decide whether a pregnancy was considered “viable”, effectively allowing abortions at any stage.

“Across the country, Ohio has already seen the terrible consequences of the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision to revoke a woman’s long-held right to an abortion. We know this is just the beginning, especially with radical anti-abortion politicians moving to pass legislation to criminally accuse women and girls who travel outside of state for legal abortions,” Ryan stated in a July statement. Today, I am proud to take action to restore a women’s fundamental rights to make her own decisions about her body and her health and to ensure she can travel wherever she wishes to receive legal reproductive healthcare.

Ryan did not address his position on abortion in August. He stated that he believed such a decision should rest with the mother.

“Of course, we don’t support abortion in the end of term,” he stated, before going on about the late-term abortion that occurs to a baby whose parents have already prepared the nursery.

Video taken by The Daily Wire this summer showed Ryan admitting to not discussing “culture wars” on the campaign trail, because these issues “don’t serve us very well here in Ohio.”

“You want culture wars?” I’m not your guy. Do you want an Ohio fighter? He said it in one of his first TV ads, during the general election.

Ryan stated that the Cuyahoga Democratic Women’s Caucus was keeping the message very much about economics during a March Zoom meeting. “You know, we should avoid the culture wars. They don’t serve Ohio well.”

One woman called him and asked him: “You keep mentioning, you’re not talking about the culture wars, but you know you’re referring to these bread-and butter issues for people. As a young woman in reproductive age, and someone who identifies herself as queer, I wanted to ask him: “Will you be the advocate we need on abortion rights, and the advocate we need on trans people’s human dignity, their human rights, and gay rights?”

Ryan reminded the woman that he had given a floor speech in support for the Women’s Health Protection Act, before voting for it.

He continued, “I’ve been very vocal about these other issues that were mentioned,” he said. “So you can trust me to be there fighting for the cause… I’m progressive. I will vote this way. I will support you in any way, shape, and form. You can count on my support.”

Many candidates have avoided answering the question or declined to define where they stand on abortion throughout this election cycle. Their opponents have made it clear that they support unfettered abortion laws, such as the Women’s Health Protection Act.

According to polling, Americans are against any restrictions on abortions. CBS polling in May showed that only 17% believe abortion should be legal at any stage of a mother’s life. Similar Pew Research polls in May 2022 found that 19% of Americans believe abortion should be legal in every case. A August 2022 Rasmussen survey found that only 13% likely California voters believe abortion should be legal at all.

A Gallup poll in May 2022 found that 63% of Americans believe abortion should be illegal, or only legal in certain circumstances. Fox News polling showed that 54% of Americans believed abortion should be illegal by the end of 15 weeks. YouGov polling also found that 73% of Americans support age-based restrictions on abortions in 2022.
