ite Democrats being all-in on abortion, polls suggest that Americans don’t support their actual policy //

Due to high gas prices and historic inflation, President Joe Biden and his party are worried about a defeat at next week’s polls. There is also a rising rate of crime in Democrat-controlled areas. Faced with the possibility of a Republican wave election the Democrats have turned their attention to abortion and are banking on the repeal of Roe V. Wade as a motivator.

Although polling seems to be helping Democrats on the issue, closer inspection reveals that the Democratic platform is not in line with what most Americans want from abortion laws.

According to a July poll by the Pew Research Center, 62 percent of Americans disapprove of Roe’s Supreme Court decision to overturn it. A January Marist poll, commissioned by Knights of Columbus, found that 55% of Americans identify themselves as “pro-choice.”

“Americans don’t like rights being taken away,” Abby Curran Horrell (executive director of House Majority PAC), the top outside group for House Democrats, told Politico . Her PAC is running ads promoting abortion, even in rural areas. She said, “We are very confident in the strategic messaging choices that we’re making in order to win races.”

But when pollsters asked Americans about their preferences on abortion, they found that they don’t support Democrats’ key legislation. Even worse, they didn’t agree with the extreme claim that anyone should be able protect an unborn baby, even in the last stages of pregnancy.

Marist also found that 71% of Americans support legal restrictions on abortion. Marist presented six options for abortion to Americans, with most favoring at least some restrictions. Only 17% of Americans agreed that abortion should be allowed during a woman’s entire pregnancy (12%), the first three months (22%), and only in cases where the mother is raped, incest or saved her life (28%). Others argued that abortion should be only legal in situations where the mother’s safety is at risk (9%) and that it should not be allowed at any time (12%)

Even 72% of those who identify themselves as “pro-choice,” support restrictions on abortion.

This must be an exception, right? Wrong. Numerous other polls confirm that Americans support legal limits on abortion.

A May Gallup poll showed that 63% of Americans believe abortion should be illegal, or legal only in certain circumstances. Only 35% believed it should be legal in all circumstances. A May Fox News poll showed that 54% of Americans support banning abortion after 15 week of pregnancy, except in medical emergencies. A Economist/YouGov survey found 73% support restricting abortion based on the stage of pregnancy. A March Wall Street Journal poll showed that 48% of voters support banning abortion after 15 weeks, while 43% opposed it.

A June Harvard/Harris survey showed that 90% of voters support restricting abortion. This includes cases of rape or incest (37%), six weeks (12%) and 15 weeks (23%), respectively, and 23 weeks (18%). 72% of voters said that they would support their state banning abortion after fifteen weeks. Only 10% of voters voted for abortion that is allowed up to 9 months.

“HTMOTO_ Democrats are going all-in on abortion, spending an eye-popping 343 million on abortion-focused television ads this year,” Marjorie Dannenfelser of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America told The Daily Signal. They will lose, it won’t.

“Their strategy to impose abortion upon demand up until the moment of birth, paid by taxpayers on Day One of Democratic majority is a big risk,” Dannenfelser said.

Biden was recently asked if there should be limits on abortion . However, he declined to answer the question, pointing instead to Roe V. Wade.

Biden and most Democrats have advocated for legislation such as the Women’s Health Protection Act. This bill goes beyond Roe v. Wade. Roe allowed abortions to be performed up to the point that an infant can survive without the mother’s consent. However, the Democratic bill says that abortion rights “shall not limit or otherwise infringed” and gives abortion providers the power to decide whether a pregnancy is “viable.” This effectively eliminates any limits. The bill was supported by 46 senator Democrats, and all democrats in the House, except one, voted for it.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (Republican from South Carolina) proposed a nationwide ban for abortions after 15 weeks.

Dannenfelser stated that “a turning point was when pro-life Republicans introduced an ordinary limit on late-term abortions where unborn children feel pain.” “This put them on offense, exposing both the Democratic position of abortion with no limits, which only 10% of Americans support and the 72% who support a 15 week limit at the earliest. We encourage pro-life candidates to continue their momentum going into Election Day.

Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), , House Speaker, slammed Graham’s proposal, calling it an “extreme” measure to “criminalize women’s health freedom.”

Pelosi stated that the nationwide abortion ban proposal… is the most recent, clearest signal from extreme MAGA Republicans’ intent of criminalizing women’s health freedoms in all 50 states and to arrest doctors who provide basic care.” “Make no mistake: Republicans will work to pass laws that are even more severe than this bill if they get the chance, just like the bans in Texas, Mississippi, or Oklahoma.

But GOP leaders encourage Republicans to highlight the Democrats’ position on this issue, calling it extreme.

Mike Berg, spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, stated that Democrats have “go all-in” on their support of taxpayer-funded abortion on demand until birth. “NRCC encourages candidates to highlight Democrats extreme position on this topic.”
