ght for the day: Vonnegut Doesn’t Howl // (Steven Hayward).
I came across this comment from Kurt Vonnegut, which seems to be on point:
“I like ‘Howl’ a lot. Who wouldn’t like it? It doesn’t matter what happened to my friends or me. One thing is that I believe that musicians, physicists, mathematicians, biologists, archaeologists, chess masters, and biologists were the best minds in my generation. Ginsberg’s closest friends were, if I am not mistaken, undergraduates at Columbia University’s English department. I would never, ever think of looking for the best minds in any generation within any undergraduate English department. I would definitely try the music or physics departments first, and then biochemistry. Everyone knows that the education department is where the dumbest people are at any American university. English follows.
