can cost you money // (John Hinderaker).

Although the slogan “Get woke, go broke” sounds appealing, it is often false. Wokeness has been a success for too many businesses, at least so far.

However, injecting left-wing politics in contexts that don’t belong to them can have serious consequences. Jimmy Kimmel proudly reveals:

Jimmy Kimmel, ABC’s late-night comedian, has made Trump bashing a central aspect of his TV persona. He now admits that his decision has cost him “half my fans — or more.”

But it was well worth it!

Jimmy Kimmel, in an interview with the Naked Lunch podcast this week, claimed he is a rebel and defied network bosses, who suggested that trashing tens to millions of potential viewers might not make sense.

Kimmel stated that there was a time at one point, perhaps, I don’t know, right around the beginning this whole like Trump thing, where… that was kinda hinted at.” “But I just said, “Listen, it’s okay. I agree. I mean, you’re right.'”

I wish there were industries where losing half of your customers was a problem that could be addressed more than being “hinted at”, but television is not one.

He said, “I have lost half my fans — maybe even more.” “Ten years ago, I was the most popular talk-show host among Republicans, at least according the research that they did.”

Kimmel said: “I just stated, if that is what you want to, I understand and don’t begrudge it for it, however, I’m not going that route.” If you’d like someone else to host the show that’s fine. I’m fine with that. It’s not my style.

What can we draw from this? Kimmel has a lot of money so he can promote his partisan political views on TV. What is the worst thing that could happen? ABC could replace him or he could go on to do something else with his millions.

But what about ABC? Perhaps ABC’s executives have looked at the landscape for late-night hosts and found that Jimmy Kimmel still draws more viewers than any other host they can find.

This seems to be the only rational reason ABC tolerates Kimmel’s self-indulgence. It is difficult to believe that ABC couldn’t find someone better because Kimmel isn’t doing that well.

In recent months, ratings problems have been a problem for Kimmel, once a powerful host. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live is currently behind two Fox News shows Gutfeld!, and Fox News @ Night.

I conclude that the people running ABC’s entertainment division are influenced by Kimmel’s political views and would rather indulge them, than maximize their company’s revenue. This is a disease that has infected many large American companies.
