the FBI be saved? // (John Hinderaker)

The staff of the Republican House Judiciary Committee released a report on Friday titled “FBI WHISLEBLOWERS: WHAT THEIR DISABLINGS INDICATE ABOUT POLITICIZATION OF JUSTICE AND FBI.”

The report is approximately 50 pages long. However, it also contains an appendix of approximately 1000 pages. This includes letters Judiciary Committee members sent to DOJ and FBI asking for information that I believe has been rarely, if ever, provided. Anyone who has paid attention to the contents of this report will be familiar with them. These are the main points of the executive summary:

* The FBI artificially inflates statistics about domestic violence extremism in the country. Whistleblowers described how the FBI leadership pressures line agents to reclassify cases into domestic violent extremism, even if the matter doesn’t meet the criteria. They also described how the FBI misrepresents the scale of domestic violence extremism by categorizing all January 6th-related cases as organic cases stemming form local field offices instead of being related to a single incident. Both ways, the FBI fuels the Biden Administration’s narrative of domestic violent extremism as the greatest threat to our country.

* The FBI is using its counterterrorism authority to investigate parents who speak at school board meetings. Whistleblowers revealed that the FBI Counterterrorism Division created a special “threattag” to track cases involving school boards shortly after the National School Boards Association asked President Biden to use Patriot Act against American parents. Whistleblowers presented evidence that the FBI opened an investigation into a mom who allegedly told a local school board that “we are coming after you” and a father simply because he had “rails against government” and “has lots of guns.”

* The FBI has used its foreign intelligence authority to spy on Americans, including those associated with President Trump’s 2016 campaign. These facts are documented in Inspector General reports as well as Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court opinions. However, there is little to no indication that the FBI has changed or is willing to change its course.

* The FBI is clearing the Bureau from employees who disagree with its leftist, woke agenda. FBI is actively trying to “purge” FBI workers who hold conservative views. President Biden considers them a “threat” to American democracy1. The FBI has taken retaliatory action against at least one whistleblower for speaking out.

* Whistleblowers explain how the FBI’s “political interference” “is dragging [the Bureau] down”, as resources are “pulled away from” real law-enforcement duties. One whistleblower recalled how he was told that child sexual abuse material investigations are no longer a priority by the FBI and should be referred directly to local law enforcement agencies so that he could pursue a Washington-directed, politically charged case. This mis-prioritization not only is a breach of duty but also a disservice to victims of crimes that are not in the FBI’s interest.

The FBI’s role as a facilitator in the Russia collusion hoax should be a reason for serious reform. The recent revelation by the FBI that Christopher Steele was offered a $1million bribe by the FBI if he could find dirt on Donald Trump is just the tip of the iceberg. This corrupt government agency cannot continue to exist in its current form.

I believe we need some federal investigative agency. I don’t know the legal contours of such an organization. Reform of the FBI and the Department of Justice should be on the Republicans’ agenda when they take control of the Senate and the House in January.
