ces to Watch for Midterm Election Day 2022 //

It’s Election Day in the United States once again. Here are eight races to keep an eye on throughout the day.

1. Michigan Governor Race: Governor Gretchen Whitmer vs. Tudor Dixon

Michigan Governor In Tuesday’s gubernatorial race, Gretchen Whitmer (a Democrat) will face Tudor Dixon, a Republican challenger.

Whitmer won 2018 the governorship after defeating Republican state Attorney-General Bill Schuette with 53.3%, CNN reported.

“Inspired and inspired by her family, she has devoted her entire life to public service, governed though unprecedented, colliding crises and remains focused on working alongside anyone to get things done to make a difference to people’s lives,” Whitmer says on her campaign website.

According to her website, Whitmer has several priorities. These include “economy” and “jobs” as well “access to safe legal abortion” and education.

“Governor Whitmer is focused to get things done that will make people’s lives better right now,” her campaign website stated.

Whitmer imposed some of most restrictive COVID-19 lockdowns in America and lifted them on June 22, 20,21, Fox2 Detroit reported.

After defeating seven other candidates in August’s primary, Dixon won the Republican nomination. 2 primary. She was previously employed in the state’s steel sector and as a news anchor for America’s Voice News. Her Ballotpedia page states.

“An experienced businesswoman who walked countless miles across factory floors, Tudor immediately recognized how much Gretchen Whitmer would cause to the economy, especially for working class families,” Dixon’s campaign website states.

Trump supported Dixon on July 29. He called her “a Conservative Warrior” who had an impressive career in steel while working with her father, who is now proudly watching her proudly from the top.

The Cook Political Report rated this race as leaning Democrat, Inside Elections rated it as tilting Democratic, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated it as leaning Democratic.

With 49.9% of Michigan’s vote, President Joe Biden won the 2020 election narrowly against then-President Donald Trump’s 48.6%, Fox News reported.

2. Pennsylvania Senate Race: Lt. Governor John Fetterman vs. Dr. Mehmet Oz

Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman, and Dr. Mehmet O are running for Pennsylvania’s open senator seat. Incumbent Sen. Pat Toomey (Republican from Pennsylvania) is not running for reelection.

Fetterman, who had a stroke May, won the lieutenant Governor spot in 2018, with approximately 60% of the vote. He declared his bid for the senate in February 2021.

“Across Pennsylvania we’re seeing soaring costs, hollowed-out communities, and families being ripped off by corporate greed. Fetterman’s campaign website outlines a five-point plan that will fix our economy and hold Washington responsible.

His website stated that Fetterman would “make more stuff in America,” cut taxes for workers, ban Congress trading stocks, reduce ‘out-of-pocket’ health care costs, and “end immoral price goinguging” if he wins.

Oz, a heart surgeon and host of “The Dr. Oz Show”, for 13 seasons, before launching his bid for the senate in December 2021. The Hollywood Reporter reported.

“Dr. “Dr.

Some of Oz’s priorities are “energy independence,” [fixing] health care and “[stopping] undocumented immigration.”

In April, Trump supported Oz and Biden supported Fetterman. The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections both rated the senate race a “toss-up”, while Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated it as leaning Republican.

With 50% of the vote, Biden won the Keystone State in 2020 over Trump’s 48.8%. USA Today reported

3. New York Governor Race: Gov. Kathy Hochul vs. Rep. Lee Zeldin

New York Governor In Tuesday’s New York governor elections, Kathy Hochul, a Democrat is up against Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.).

Zeldin, a former New York senator, and Hochul assumed office Aug. 24, 2021 following former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, resigned.

New York hasn’t had a Republican statewide officeholder for more than a decade. However, polls indicated a tight race leading to the election.

Zeldin’s message was strongly focused on concerns about rising crime, the economy and education.

“They want safe streets, safe subways, they want New York to be more accessible, they want to lower energy costs. Perhaps they are against congestion pricing. “Whatever that issue may be, that we’re capable of working together to move the state ahead,” Zeldin stated Monday.

Hochul’s message was focused on guns after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court.

Initial concerns about increased crime were dismissed by her as a conspiracy by right-wing “manipulators”.

“These are master manipulators. They are trying to convince Americans in Democratic States that they are not as safe as they claim. Guess what? Hochul stated that they are not only election deniers but also data deniers on MSNBC Oct. 30.

She clarified her position later.

“I recognize that there is a crime problem. It’s not something new to me, it’s election season, I’ve been working with this throughout my entire tenure as governor,” she stated on Nov. 3.

Hochul pledged to support abortion in New York, where there are some of the most liberal abortion laws in the nation.

“What is on our shoulders, as the women today, because those women back in the day were so brave, so audacious, and they went against all the tides of the time,” Hochul stated of the issue of abortion at a rally held on Nov. 3. Fox News reports that they were mocked, spit upon, and even jailed for having the courage to assert that they have rights and have a right fight for them.”

Cook Political Report rated this race as a “likely Democratic victory.”

4. Georgia Governor Race: Governor Brian Kemp vs. Stacey Abrams

Republican Gov. is the candidate in Georgia’s governor race. Brian Kemp is up against Stacey Abrams (Democratic candidate), a former member of Georgia’s House of Representatives.

This election is a rematching the closely contested 2018 election for governor.

After Georgia’s passage in 2021 of an election law, which Kemp supported, election security was a major focus of both campaigns.

“We now have photo ID to vote in all forms. Kemp stated that we have implemented photo ID in an interview with CNN on November 2. This helps you identify with the process and gives you more security and confidence. So we are seeing that people feel that our elections are fair, safe, and secure. Look at the numbers. Record turnout is being recorded for early voting. People are seeing that the lines [move] quickly. We don’t see any major problems in any area.”

Abrams, who didn’t concede after the 2018 election has been a strong critic for the election law. Recently, the Washington Examiner stated that it had been used “to not just game the system but to suppress the voting in the state Georgia.”

Georgia’s early voting numbers set new records for the state. Abrams stated that this was not proof that voter suppression did not occur.

“While polls will always tell the story you want, we know that the untold story of this race is that it is close, it is neck-and-neck, and we believe we are on the path to victory if all our voters turn out and if they can navigate through the difficulties set up by Brian Kemp [Secretary to State] Brad Raffensperger.”

Cook Political Report listed Georgia’s governor race as “leaning Republican.”

5. Georgia Senate Race: Sen. Ralph Warnock vs. Herschel Walker

In the Georgia Senate election, Ralph Warnock (a Democrat) and Republican Herschel Walk (a Republican) are battling it out. Warnock is the incumbent.

The election was also very focused on election integrity and voting rights, but it was even more focused on the fitness of both candidates for office.

“This man lies about the most basic facts in his life,” Warnock stated of Walker during an event with former President Barack Obama. “And now he wants us to… imagine that he is now a United States senator.” … Herschel Walker is not ready. He is not ready. He’s not only not ready, but he’s also not fit.

Walker replied by saying Warnock wasn’t qualified for the job and almost always side with Biden on issues.

“He spoke about how I’m not ready. Walker replied Thursday, “No, you’re no ready.” “Either you voted with Joe Biden 96% or you didn’t know what you were doing. You can choose which one you prefer — you either have no clue what you are doing or you voted for Joe Biden 96% of the times, which is going in the wrong direction.

Both sides have spent a lot of money on this race.

The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that Democrats and Republicans have spent $30.83 on each of Georgia’s 7.8 million eligible voters. “That amounts to approximately $241 million and counting.”

The Cook Political Report rated an “toss up.”

6. Florida Governor’s Race: How Big is a Win?

According to polling, Florida’s Republican Governor is most likely. Polling suggests that Ron DeSantis is likely to win over Charlie Crist, a former Republican governor. According to RealClearPolitics, he beat Crist by 11.6 percentage points. FiveThirtyEight has a similar spread. The Cook Political Report rates this race as “likely Republican”.

Famously, DeSantis reopened Florida after the COVID-19 pandemic. This prompted a series of Left-leaning attacks but also welcomed a large influx from other states. His surgeon general, Dr. Joseph Ladapo did not hesitate to challenge the narrative on pandemic restrictions and has led efforts to examine whether controversial transgender medical intervention for children actually help or harm them long term.

DeSantis signed the parental rights legislation in education that was infamously called “The Don’t Say Gay Bill.” Disney responded to the attack by signing a bill revoking Disney World’s special status. This was seen by many conservatives as a major victory against “woke capitalism.”

Rumours have it that DeSantis may be considering a presidential run in 2024. A big win on Election Night could propel him into a strong position to run for the presidency. Trump has endorsed DeSantis for reelection. However, Trump has not campaigned alongside DeSantis. Trump even called DeSantis “DeSanctimonious.” This suggests that Trump may view DeSantis as a competitor.

7. Ohio Senate Race: J.D. Vance vs. Tim Ryan

Rep. J.D. is facing Tim Ryan, D.Ohio. Vance will be elected to the open seat in Ohio’s senate. Sen. Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), who currently holds the Senate seat is not seeking another term.

Ryan has represented Ohio’s 13th Congressional district for almost ten years. He has been serving since January 2013. NBC News reported that he announced his Senate bid in April 2021.

According to Ryan’s campaign website, Ryan campaigned on “cutting workers in the deal, rebuilding the country” and “investing into affordable health care.”

“In the Senate Tim will fight for higher wages, make healthcare more accessible, invest in education and rebuild our public infrastructure so we can manufacture things in Ohio again — and, he’ll ensure we’re cutting workers out on the deal every step along the way,” Ryan’s campaign website stated.

Sen. Sherrod brown, D.Ohio and Reps. Marcy Katur, D.Ohio and Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), endorsed Ryan.

CBS News reported that Vance, , was endorsed in May by Trump and DeSantis.

“JD was raised in Middletown Ohio. It was once a prosperous American manufacturing town that allowed Ohioans to live happy, middle-class lives with a single income. He witnessed the steady decline of his hometown over time. His campaign website states that jobs and economic opportunities gradually disappeared, leaving his family, friends, neighbors, and neighbors with nothing.”

His campaign was focused on issues such as “spending and inflation” and “[advocating] energy independence” and “[combating] the] drug- and opioid epidemic.”

His campaign website stated that the U.S. Senate needed someone who understands what it’s like living in a left-behind neighborhood, and not a career politician who has done little for the people of Ohio.

The Cook Political Report, and Inside Elections rated the race as leaning Republican. Sabato’s Crystal Ball rates it as a “safeR.” Donald Trump won 53.3% in Ohio in the 2020 presidential election, CNN reported.

8. Arizona Governor Race: Kari Lake vs. Katie Hobbs

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Dobbs is a Democrat. Republican Kari Lake will be facing off in the Arizona gubernatorial race. Due to term limits in Arizona, Doug Ducey was the previous governor. He will be retiring.

During the campaign, immigration was a key issue.

“I know that if people ask people from other states that aren’t border states, this issue is one of the most important issues affecting our country,” Lake stated in an interview with CBS 5 Sunday. “We have lost more people to fentanyl than we did in 9/11 since Joe Biden became president.”

Hobbs, , who declined to debate Lake in the election, made “democracy” a central theme of his campaign.

Lake claimed that election fraud distorted the 2020 elections.

“We know democracy is at stake,” Hobbs stated at a Tucson rally days before the election.

Hobbs said, “Democracy will send Kari lake back to whatever dark corner on the internet she came,”

In an interview with Jonathan Karl from ABC News, Lake stated that she would accept the outcome of the election so long as it was fair, honest, transparent, and free from any partisanship.

The Cook Political Report rated an “toss up.”
