Jen Kiggans has defeated Elaine Luria the incumbent Democrat and flipped Virginia’s 2nd Congressional district red in one the most competitive House races during the 2022 midterm election. For months, the Virginia race was considered a “toss up” competition between the two military vets. Two weeks before the election, a Wason Center poll revealed that the two candidates were tied at 45% to 45% in voter support. The Jan. 6 committee was established to investigate the January 2021 Capitol riot. Tensions grew between the candidates throughout the election cycle. Luria called for Luria’s stock to be sold at a semiconductor company after she voted to pass the CHIPS Act through Congress. Both Lurias and Kiggans participated in Fox News Digital’s summer “Election Spotlight” series. They explained why they were the best choice to fill the House seat. She fought for increased health care and benefits to veterans, secured billions for the defense budget and invested in local infrastructure. She also supported small businesses and working families. “I will continue to work in a bipartisan manner across the aisle to be an independent voice that puts people above politics and delivers for Coastal Virginia.” Kiggans also contributed to the discussion, telling Fox News Digital that a vote in favor of her Democrat opponent is a vote in support of President Joe Biden. “The midterm elections are our best chance to end the liberal one party rule that is currently affecting everyday Americans. Joe Biden’s policies will be on the November ballot in Virginia’s Second District. They go by Elaine Luria. “Virginians have a clear option in this election: continue Joe Biden’s disastrous policies or send commonsense conservative leadership down to Washington. We must elect leaders who will prioritize the restoration of American strength in the economy, at our borders and on international stage. Kiggans stated that he looks forward to doing exactly that.
