The Republican Mehmet Oz, a former daytime TV host, will be defeated by John Fetterman, Democratic Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania. Fox News’ Decision Desk projects.
Sen. Pat Toomey (Republican from Pennsylvania) announced that he will not seek a third term. This leaves the Republican-held seat open, and makes it vulnerable as one the best pick-up opportunities for the Democratic Party this autumn.
Democrat Fetterman served as the mayor of Braddock for 13 years before he was sworn in as lieutenant- governor in 2019. Fetterman suffered a stroke on May 8. This caused clear auditory processing problems that affected his speaking abilities.
Oz, a well-known television personality, and surgeon, was the Republican nominee for the Keystone State Senate race.

Although Fetterman claimed that his doctor cleared him to “work full-duty in public office”, he refused to make his medical records available to the public.
Fetterman replied, “I support Roe V. Wade,” when Oz asked him if he supported restrictions on abortion. Oz immediately denied Oz’s claim, citing Fetterman’s primary debate, where he allegedly stated that he would support abortion until 38 weeks.
