Steve Chabot was defeated by Democrat Greg Landsman, Ohio House Race // According to the Associated Press, Steve Chabot, a long-serving GOP Representative, has been defeated by Greg Landsman. This is a victory for Democrats in Ohio’s 1st Congressional district. Chabot has represented Ohio’s 1st district since 1995. There was a brief period in 2008 when he was not seated for a single term. He then reclaimed the House seat in 2010. Democrats have criticised Chabot for voting against certifying President Biden’s 2020 victory over Donald Trump in the aftermath the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol. Republicans tried to tie Landsman to President Biden’s policy agenda. They claimed that he was “too liberal” for the District. Chabot said that his constituents couldn’t afford Landsman. Trump was the former President of the United States. He won Ohio’s 1st Congressional District in the 2020 presidential election by a narrow margin. However, after redistricting following the 2020 Census, the district is more Democratic and would have seen a 9-point margin of victory for Biden.
