Sykes, whose parents were both members of the Ohio House Democratic caucus, resigned last year to allow him to run for the presidency.
Sykes stated that she entered the race because she believes Ohioans deserve high-paying union jobs, quality healthcare and safe communities. “Today, voters made a clear decision.”
Madison Gesiotto Gilbert was defeated by Sykes, an attorney who was also a conservative commentator and was endorsed former President Trump.
Gesiotto Gilbert thanked all her supporters during Tuesday’s concession speech.
She said that she prayed that Washington Democrats would take our economic problems seriously and engage in thoughtful legislating in order to ease the suffering of all Americans.
